Shipping Executive

Location: Surat, Gujarat, India

Experience: 6–7 years

About the Company

Taranjotgroup is hiring for a shipping operations role focused on import documentation, laytime calculations, and coordination with ship-related agencies. The team needs someone who can support smooth movement of shipping activities, keep documentation accurate, and ensure operational follow-through with external partners. This role sits within a business environment where precision, timely communication, and disciplined execution directly affect shipment flow and business continuity. The successful candidate will help strengthen day-to-day shipping control through reliable handling of commercial and operational documentation. The position is based in Surat and is intended for someone who is comfortable working closely with internal stakeholders and external maritime contacts. The role calls for practical shipping knowledge, strong ownership, and the ability to manage details that influence operational outcomes.

About the Role

The Shipping Executive will own the documentation and coordination layer that keeps import shipments moving without avoidable delay. The role requires careful handling of import paperwork, laytime calculations, vessel and agency communication, and operational follow-up so that the company can avoid errors, delay costs, and process breakdowns. The right person will work across shipping-related touchpoints to keep information accurate, actions timely, and stakeholders aligned. This position is suited to someone with 6–7 years of experience and an MBA background in marine shipping or supply chain management who can manage shipping workflows with confidence. Success in the role will be measured by control, accuracy, responsiveness, and the ability to support uninterrupted shipping operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own import documentation accuracy and completeness so shipments move without delays from missing or incorrect paperwork, reducing operational friction and avoidable cost exposure.
  • Calculate and track laytime with precision so commercial claims, vessel-related timelines, and shipping decisions are supported by correct operational data.
  • Coordinate consistently with ship owners, agents, port contacts, and related agencies to keep communication clear, actioned, and aligned to shipment timelines.
  • Monitor shipping milestones and follow through on pending actions so issues are resolved before they affect vessel movement, clearance, or downstream operations.
  • Support the team with shipping records, status updates, and coordination outputs so internal stakeholders have reliable information for decision-making.
  • Maintain a disciplined approach to operational documentation and correspondence so the business can depend on timely, auditable, and accurate shipping execution.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Strong knowledge of import documentation processes, shipping terms, and execution steps needed to support smooth trade and vessel movement.
  • Practical ability in laytime calculation and related shipping concepts so commercial and operational implications are captured correctly.
  • Confident coordination skills for working with ships, agents, and related agencies while maintaining clarity, responsiveness, and professional follow-through.
  • High attention to detail in documents, timelines, and communication to prevent errors that can create delay, cost, or compliance issues.
  • Working understanding of shipping operations, marine trade flow, and supply chain linkages so the role adds value beyond routine administration.
  • Strong ownership, organization, and problem-solving ability to manage multiple moving parts and keep execution on track.

Additional Plus

  • MBA in Marine Shipping or Supply Chain Management is a strong plus and aligns well with the analytical and operational depth required for the role.
  • Prior exposure to import-heavy shipping environments or vessel coordination will help the candidate ramp up faster and manage stakeholders with greater confidence.
  • Experience handling time-sensitive shipping issues and commercial discussions will be useful in a role where timing and accuracy directly affect outcomes.

What You'll Bring

  • 6–7 years of relevant shipping experience, with clear hands-on exposure to import documentation and operational coordination.
  • A strong grasp of laytime calculations and the ability to translate shipping activity into accurate commercial and operational decisions.
  • Professional communication skills and the confidence to work effectively with ship and agency contacts while keeping issues moving to closure.
  • An MBA in Marine Shipping or Supply Chain Management, with the discipline to apply that knowledge in a practical shipping environment.
