Meritto is one of India's leading AI Vertical SaaS companies serving the education sector. Over the last nine years, we've built a 500+ member organization with financial discipline, strong culture, and long-term thinking. We're now entering our next phase of scale.
This is not a role for someone who wants to manage an established HR function. It is a role for someone who wants to build one. We're looking for a hands-on leader who is willing to roll up their sleeves, challenge existing systems, rethink how we operate, and build a world-class people organization that can scale for the next decade. If you're looking for comfort, stability, or simply running mature processes, this role is probably not for you.
You will work directly with the Founder, leadership team, and Board to architect the people agenda for a company on its journey towards the public markets.
We're looking for someone who has built inside world-class organizations and is excited to bring those learnings into a fast-growing company- someone who enjoys getting into the details, building from first principles, and seeing the long-term compounding impact of their work.
What You Will Drive
1. Build the Next Generation People Organization
- Architect the long-term people strategy aligned with business growth and public market readiness.
- Deep dive into existing systems, challenge assumptions, redesign processes, and build scalable operating models.
- Bring proven playbooks from high-caliber organizations while adapting them to Meritto's speed and culture.
- Build governance, metrics, dashboards, and operating rhythms that improve decision-making.
2. Talent Acquisition & Planning
- Build and scale a high-performing hiring engine across all functions and leadership levels.
- Strengthen leadership hiring and succession pipelines.
- Improve hiring quality, speed, predictability, and efficiency.
- Partner closely with business leaders on organization design and workforce planning.
3. Performance, Culture & Employee Experience
- Strengthen a culture of ownership, meritocracy, accountability, and high performance.
- Build systems for goal setting, performance management, rewards, and career growth.
- Improve engagement, retention, internal mobility, and manager effectiveness.
- Preserve Meritto's entrepreneurial culture while building scalable people practices.
4. Leadership Development
- Build leadership capability across every level of the organization.
- Create succession plans and future leadership pipelines.
- Design practical learning and development programs linked to business outcomes.
- Coach leaders to build stronger, more accountable teams.
Who This Role Is For
- 12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience.
- Experience building and scaling people organizations inside high-caliber companies.
- A proven track record of implementing systems, not just designing presentations or policies.
- Someone who enjoys solving messy problems, simplifying complexity, and building from the ground up.
- Comfortable operating in a high-speed, founder-led environment with ambiguity and constant change.
- Business-first mindset with strong commercial understanding.
- High ownership, high energy, intellectual curiosity, and strong execution capability.
- Someone looking to build for long -not simply manage what already exists.
