AEM Position Summary: Marriott International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer ? AEM Developer to join our Hotel Websites (HWS) team. This role is ideal for a backend-focused engineer with deep expertise in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Java, and enterprise Content Management Systems (CMS). You will be responsible for designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performance web solutions that power Marriott?s global hotel websites, including modern headless CMS implementations. Job Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain AEM-based web applications and components for Marriott?s hotel websites. Implement and extend AEM templates, components, workflows, and services using Java, HTL/Sightly, and Sling. Develop and support headless AEM architecture, delivering content via APIs to decoupled front-end applications (e.g., React/Next.js). Integrate AEM with backend APIs, third-party services, and enterprise systems using REST, GraphQL, and other protocols. Collaborate with front-end developers, QA engineers, DevOps, and product teams to deliver seamless and performant digital experiences. Optimize AEM configurations for scalability, caching, and performance across global deployments. Ensure CMS content structures support multilingual and cross-locale publishing needs. Develop and maintain custom AEM modules and OSGi bundles to support business requirements. Implement personalization and content targeting strategies using AEM capabilities. Participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to AEM architecture, deployment, and content delivery. Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines for AEM deployments using tools like Harness, Jenkins, GitHub, and Docker. Ensure compliance with Marriott?s security, accessibility, SEO, and performance standards. Collaborate with content authors and product teams to streamline publishing workflows and improve authoring experience. Document technical designs, configurations, and operational procedures. Stay current with AEM product updates, industry trends, and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on Java and CMS development. 3+ years of hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). Strong understanding of AEM architecture, including JCR, Sling, OSGi, Dispatcher, and replication agents. Experience developing and supporting headless CMS solutions using AEM. Proficiency in Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and templating languages (HTL/Sightly). Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices for AEM deployment and monitoring. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration abilities Preferred Qualifications: Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service or hybrid cloud/on-prem setups. Knowledge of personalization, content targeting, and dynamic rendering strategies. Exposure to front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js) and how they integrate with headless AEM. Understanding of SEO, accessibility, and internationalization (i18n) best practices. Experience in hospitality, travel, or e-commerce domains. Education and Certifications: Graduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification Work location: Hyderabad, India.
