Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack, Google Play

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience with full-stack development, across the back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
• 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience in developing accessible technologies.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, User Experience (UX) and business teams.

In this role, you will collaborate with product and User Experience (UX) teams to understand user journeys for apps discovery, install, and subscription. You will work with other teams, such as the Play Loyalty, Play Subscriptions, Play Games Store and other Google teams, to design and build features and Critical User Journeys (CUJs) with web front-end, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), back-end infrastructure, and analytics to engage and reward the users. You will create web presence for the in-app content and make it accessible beyond Play by Search and Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents. You will build analytics and logging to quantify the users and business impact and build common infrastructure and capabilities to scale the Web impact.Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Write and test product or system development code.
• Lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select among available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
