Job Description

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end delivery of product features, from requirement analysis and technical design to development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Design and build highly scalable, reliable, secure, and high-performance web applications and microservices.
Collaborate closely with product managers, tech leads, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Drive technical design discussions and make architectural decisions that ensure scalability and maintainability.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
Perform code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards, development processes, and system reliability.
Analyse production issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and implement long-term solutions.
Contribute to frontend development when required using React and modern web technologies.
Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and help drive continuous improvement within the team.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture.

Core Backend Skills

The core requirements for the job include the following:

4+ years of hands-on software development experience.
Strong expertise in Java and object-orientated programming (OOP) principles.
Extensive experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.
Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
Experience with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA.
Strong knowledge of REST APIs, API design principles, and backend best practices.
Experience designing and optimising highly performant and scalable backend systems.

Database Expertise

Strong experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB.
Strong understanding of database design, indexing, query optimisation, transactions, and performance tuning.

Frontend Skills

Working knowledge of React.js and modern JavaScript.
Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frontend application architecture.
Ability to contribute to UI development and collaborate effectively with frontend engineers.
Aware of tools like Vite, Prettier, ESLint.

Engineering Practices

Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Strong understanding of software design patterns and engineering best practices.
Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and quality assurance processes.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
