What you?ll own: Architect, build and own core backend services and infrastructure using Node.js . Design and implement scalable, efficient, and secure REST and/or GraphQL APIs, real-time endpoints, background jobs, message-based systems, and other backend services. Define the backend tech stack, modular architecture, coding standards, testing strategy, and development workflow for the team.? Collaborate with frontend engineers, designers, product and data teams to integrate backend services with UI/UX frontends, and deliver end-to-end product functionality. Ensure system performance, scalability, fault-tolerance, logging/observability, security, and maintainability of backend services. Mentor and lead a lean backend team: conduct code reviews, guide architectural decisions, promote best practices, and contribute to development standards and culture. Evaluate and adopt new backend technologies, frameworks, and patterns ? especially relevant when building AI/data-driven features and integrations (given the company?s vision) This is more than a job ? you?re joining the core founding team. We?re excited about you if you: 4+ years of hands-on backend development experience with Node.js Strong understanding of server-side programming fundamentals: database design (SQL or NoSQL), data models, query optimization, asynchronous programming, backend performance, security, and testing Proven experience in creating APIs (RESTful and/or GraphQL), integrating with frontend systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams Comfortable working with backend infrastructure: cloud platforms (e.g. AWS / Azure / GCP), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) or other deployment/DevOps tools, CI/CD, monitoring/observability. Strong coding practices: writing clean, maintainable, efficient backend code; testing (unit/integration), documentation, code reviews, and emphasis on maintainability & scalability. Earned a Bachelor?s in CS/Engineering (especially from top-tier college) ? and you?re proud of it. Bonus: experience in AEC industry, or working on AI/ML adjacent frontend projects.
