We are a financial & insurance brokerage using Odoo Enterprise 10 since 2017, with: ~70 custom modules Full system documentation (ERD, workflows, permissions) GitLab CI/CD pipeline Dedicated sysadmin New clean Odoo environment ready on Hetzner Cloud Your Responsibilities Phase 1: Migration Planning (Week 1) Review documentation and codebase Explore production clone via SSH Prepare high-level migration plan Identify obsolete / mergeable modules Provide time & effort estimates Phase 2: Full Migration (6 Months, Full-Time) Complete migration from Odoo 10 ? Odoo Community Rebuild/refactor custom modules Improve performance & code quality Collaborate with sysadmin on CI/CD Deploy changes across dev ? staging ? prod Database Migration (Critical): Analyse Odoo 10 DB structure Write custom migration scripts Handle data cleaning & mapping Run iterative staging tests Deliver a fully functional migrated DB Required Skills 4+ years Odoo development Proven Odoo migration experience (especially v10 ? newer) Python, ORM, QWeb, XML, PostgreSQL OpenUpgrade or manual migration experience CI/CD, GitLab, Linux Ability to redesign and standardize modules Strong written English and async communication Architectural & System Skills Ability to take over large legacy systems and bring structure Capability to redesign modules for clean architecture, testability, and maintainability Systematic thinking around refactoring, consolidation, and optimization Strong sense of ownership and independence Communication Good written English (Slack, GitLab, Notion) All communication is async/text-based Excellent spoken English not required Tools You Must Be Proficient With AI Development Tools (Required ? not optional) AI coding assistants: Windsurf, Cursor, Copilot, Codeium, CodeWiki, etc. AI documentation/analysis tools: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok Ability to use AI efficiently for: module development code refactoring migration scripts database mapping issue debugging technical documentation Other Tools GitLab Notion Linux environment Nice to Have Experience in insurance or financial workflows Familiarity with GDPR and EU regulations Experience working with small, high-accountability teams Work Environment & Culture Small, stable team (10?15 employees) Fast decision-making, no bureaucracy Structured GitLab flow (dev ? staging ? prod) Long-term cooperation (years) Occasional off-hours work required for production deployment downtime-minimization How To Apply Send: CV / LinkedIn / portfolio Details of 2 Odoo migrations you handled Your migration approach Estimated timeline Availability & timezone Shortlisted candidates will get SSH access to a cloned environment for preparing an outline migration plan.
