Role Purpose

We are seeking a Senior Manager – Data Engineering with deep expertise in open-source data technologies and streaming platforms to lead the next wave of innovation for our fintech data platform.

You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and evolving scalable data infrastructure and tools that power analytics, AI, and real-time insights across the organization.

This role transitions ownership from a legacy builder who established the data foundation using custom-built platforms and introduced modern technologies such as Airflow, MSK, and Debezium into production. You will now take this ecosystem to the next level of scale, reliability, and impact.

Responsibilities We Entrust You With

Own the data lake and OLAP ecosystem, from real-time streaming ingestion to analytics-ready layers.
Lead and evolve real-time data pipelines using Apache Kafka / MSK, Debezium (CDC), and BigQuery.
Deliver end-to-end data projects by leading teams of Data Engineers.
Implement and maintain custom-built Java and Python frameworks for data ingestion, validation, transformation, and replication.
Design and manage data lakes using Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, and Athena on S3.
Define and enforce data modeling standards across BigQuery, Redshift, and warehouse layers.
Drive cloud-native deployments using ECS/EKS, Terraform/CDK, and Docker.
Collaborate with ML, product, and business teams to enable advanced analytics and AI use cases.
Mentor data engineers and evangelize modern architecture and engineering best practices.
Ensure observability, lineage, data quality, and governance across the entire data stack.

What Matters In This Role

12+ years of overall industry experience.
B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
12+ years of experience in data engineering and data architecture roles.
Proven experience building systems from scratch and scaling them in production environments.
Experience in fintech or financial services is a strong plus.

Technical Skills & Expertise

Proven expertise in Kafka / MSK, Debezium, and real-time event-driven systems.
Hands-on experience with BigQuery, Redshift, and NoSQL databases (e.g., RocksDB).
Strong background in custom tooling using Java and Python.
Experience with Apache Airflow, Iceberg, Athena, and Glue.
Strong knowledge of both GCP and AWS ecosystems, including IAM, S3, Lambda, Glue, ECS/EKS, and CloudWatch.
Deep understanding of:
Data lake architecture
Streaming vs. batch processing
Change Data Capture (CDC) patterns
Familiarity with modern data formats such as Parquet and Avro.

Nice to Have

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively with both business and engineering teams.
Strong attention to detail with a clear ownership mindset.
Ability to manage multiple integrations in parallel.
Exposure to dbt, Apache Pinot, Trino/Presto, ClickHouse, or Druid.
Familiarity with data security practices, including:
Encryption at rest and in transit
GDPR and PCI compliance
Experience with DevOps practices, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and Terraform / CloudFormation.
