Overview:

The Senior Manager / Associate Director – Business Finance will play a significant role in driving business performance and ensuring the organization achieves its financial objectives. This role sits at the intersection of finance and business, acting as a strategic partner to business units and enabling data-driven decision-making.

This is a high-visibility role with regular interaction with senior stakeholders, including business heads and leadership teams. The role requires a strong focus on business finance, unit economics, and actionable insights, going beyond traditional FP&A.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive long term planning exercise including preparing of the 5-year Business Plan
• Run the full budgeting process for assigned business units, including detailed P&L with focus on business drivers, revenue levers, and cost structures
• Ensure budgetary control through monthly business reviews, variance analysis, and clear articulation of performance drivers
• Act as a finance business partner to business, product, and functional leaders to support decision-making through financial insights
• Independently own and manage financials of multiple LoBs (revenue, margins, and profitability)
• Propose and drive revenue, margin, and cost improvement initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders
• Perform deep-dive analysis across unit economics (CAC, LTV, contribution margins, payback), revenue drivers, and cost structures
• Analyze cash flow, working capital trends, and cost efficiencies to identify optimization opportunities
• Prepare and present monthly and quarterly MIS, dashboards, and business performance reviews with actionable insights
• Translate complex financial data into clear business narratives and strategic recommendations
• Evaluate new initiatives, product launches, and investments through financial modeling and scenario analysis
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Operations to evaluate GTM strategies, campaign ROI, and pricing decisions
• Track and analyze key business KPIs, identifying risks and opportunities to improve performance
• Drive discussions with business teams to understand problems, evaluate trade-offs, and co-create solutions
• Propose and execute value creation initiatives (topline growth and margin expansion) with cross-functional teams
• Support strategic initiatives such as business expansion, cost optimization, and process improvements
• Run special projects such as profitability analysis, business case evaluations, and investment analysis
• Implement and improve systems, reporting frameworks, and dashboards to enhance data accuracy and scalability
• Champion finance as a strategic partner and ensure consistency across financial and business reporting

Qualifications

• 6 - 8 years of experience in Business Finance / FP&A / Commercial Finance roles
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting, including P&L management, unit economics, and corporate finance concepts
• Proven experience in business partnering and influencing cross-functional stakeholders
• Hands-on experience in financial modeling, forecasting, and analyzing large datasets
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate insights into business decisions
• Experience in high-growth, data-driven environments (consumer internet, edtech, SaaS preferred)
• Strong communication and presentation skills for senior leadership and non-finance stakeholders
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) and ERP systems
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Engineering, or related field
• MBA / CA / CFA or equivalent preferred
