Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Actively Reviewing

Fluidra Technologies Private Limited

Pune Full-Time 4–8 yrs exp Posted 9 hours ago  · Apply by Sep 14, 2026

About the Role :

This is an advanced, hands-on engineering role spanning both architecture and execution across virtualization and datacenter infrastructure at Fluidra, a global enterprise. You will join a team that owns datacenter strategy and the evolution of the hypervisor journey — starting with multiple VCF and vSphere ESXi instances we run today. In parallel, an active initiative on the Nutanix stack is underway, with Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) in flight today and Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) on the roadmap as part of a larger multi-phased, multi-year plan.

The role is genuinely versatile in nature: the candidate should be as comfortable shaping a multi-site design and influencing platform direction as they are building, deploying, and automating the infrastructure that results. We're looking for a seasoned engineer — with deep knowledge of hypervisor and virtualization technologies, fluent across storage, datacenter, and networking concepts — who can drive change and decisions through experience, resourceful research, and strong collaboration rather than waiting for direction.

You should be comfortable assuming end-to-end ownership of discrete workstreams, including large-scale infrastructure migration and consolidation initiatives, working hand-in-hand with on-site teams, counterparts, and cross-functional partners (networking, cybersecurity, systems, and apps) across regions. Automation and AI are central to how this team works, and leveraging both in your day-to-day engineering practice is expected. As we expand our adoption of LLMs, you'll gain early, hands-on exposure to an emerging Private AI capability — an on-premises platform for conversing with and training on our own infrastructure and operational data.

Before You Apply

Language Requirement: Professional fluency in English — written and verbal — is required.

Availability: This role participates in a global on-call rotation, with high-severity incident response outside core hours when on shift.

What You'll Do

  • Operate with depth across the stack. Move fluidly between design strategy and hands-on engineering — shaping a multi-site architecture or influencing a platform decision one day, deep in a build, migration, or automation effort the next.
  • Own workstreams end-to-end. Drive discrete initiatives — a site migration, a consolidation, a platform rollout — acting as the single point of contact and accountability: coordinating on-site teams, counterparts, and partner teams, managing timelines and stakeholder communication, and seeing each effort through to completion with minimal oversight.
  • Engineer away toil — and use the quiet to get ahead. Apply automation, infrastructure-as-code, and API-driven integration to eliminate manual effort, improve reliability, and push toward event-driven automation and self-healing, with AI woven into the daily practice. In quieter stretches, attack backlogs, harden monitoring, and close operational gaps rather than waiting to be assigned the next thing.
  • Collaborate across pillars, security-first. Partner closely with cybersecurity, networking, systems, and applications teams — treating security not as a final checkpoint but as a design principle baked into the fabric of every architectural and execution decision.
  • Elevate the team. Mentor peers, transfer knowledge deliberately, and raise the collective bar — scaling your expertise beyond yourself so the team's capability compounds rather than concentrating in any one person.
  • Document and communicate with precision. Bring a careful attention to detail and the discipline to document thoroughly and communicate clearly — runbooks, designs, and decisions others can follow, trust, and build on.
  • Operate with integrity. Set realistic expectations, surface risk early, take accountability, and conduct yourself as a peer, partner, and steward of customer trust — in line with our core values.

What You'll Bring

  1. Hypervisor & virtualization depth (VMware/VCF-led, HCI-capable). Deep, production-grade expertise across the VMware ecosystem, anchored on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) — spanning cluster and lifecycle management, capacity planning, performance tuning, and complex troubleshooting across enterprise multi-site environments. Hands-on competency with the Nutanix platform or comparable modern HCI is strongly valued, along with the aptitude to deepen as the Nutanix footprint grows. Fluency across traditional 3-tier and the more modern hyper-converged and disaggregated architectures is the core of this role.
  2. Enterprise storage breadth. Hands-on experience with modern enterprise storage platforms (Dell preferred), including replication, compression & deduplication, snapshots, performance tuning, and tiered design principles. Solid command of SAN and NAS fundamentals, with practical fluency across common storage protocols — Fibre Channel, iSCSI, SMB, NFS, and the increasingly standardized NVMe over TCP — and a working understanding of storage presentation, connectivity, and path resilience as they apply to the virtualization layer.
  3. Backup, replication & DR architecture. Experience designing and operating enterprise backup and recovery (Veeam, Cohesity, or Rubrik preferred), along with multi-site replication and recovery strategies spanning storage- and hypervisor-based replication and orchestrated failover — bringing fresh, strategy-oriented thinking to how data is protected and restored across sites. Familiarity with immutability and object-lock as core tenets of modern, ransomware-resilient backup design, paired with comfort owning solutions end-to-end: implementation, failover testing and validation, and documenting playbooks for operational handoff in partnership with cybersecurity.
  4. Automation, IaC & integration. Strong operational scripting experience (PowerShell and/or Python), with infrastructure-as-code (Ansible or Terraform) highly preferred — able to walk us through specific automation you personally built and shipped: what it solved, what you delivered, and what changed as a result. Practical API fluency for integrating across the stack — virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix), monitoring, ITSM and CMDB systems, and infrastructure source-of-truth tools like NetBox — supporting orchestration, reporting, and dashboarding, with an eye toward event-driven automation and self-healing, increasingly augmented by AI-assisted tooling.
  5. Datacenter & networking fluency. Solid command of datacenter design fundamentals and adjacent networking concepts — a functional grasp of the OSI model, plus working familiarity with VLANs, routing and switching, link aggregation (port channels, LACP), and firewall and segmentation patterns — enough to engage credibly with networking teams on cross-stack decisions. Not a network engineer, but never lost in a networking conversation.
  6. Public cloud literacy. We have a public cloud presence today in AWS and Azure, so experience in either is highly preferred — though exposure to any major hyperscaler will be considered. Candidates should bring a working understanding of the ecosystems, comfortable navigating and performing administrative tasks across core services, identity, and the fundamental networking and security constructs. While deep cloud engineering expertise isn't the central focus of this role today, ownership opportunities may arise over time — so genuine hands-on fluency is expected, and will be explored in conversation.
  7. Enterprise migration & consolidation experience. A track record of contributing to or owning enterprise migrations end-to-end — datacenter, hypervisor, storage, or workload — including discovery, dependency mapping, cutover planning, validation, and post-migration optimization. Comfortable leading a workstream from start to finish: coordinating on-site teams, counterparts, and supporting functions, managing timelines and stakeholder communication, and driving the effort to completion with minimal oversight.
  8. Linux proficiency. Confident administering, troubleshooting, and operating in Linux environments — the substrate beneath much of the modern platform, storage, and automation stack you'll work across.

Highly Desired

  • Demonstrated, hands-on use of AI to accelerate real engineering work, with judgment about where it adds value and where it doesn't. We expect this to become standard practice and actively value candidates already working this way.
  • Exposure to additional platforms — Microsoft Hyper-V, OpenShift, DDPC (NativeEdge)
  • Modern observability — Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus
  • Identity & access — Okta, Delinea or comparable PAM, plus modern auth protocols (OAuth 2.0, mTLS, STS) for integration and service-to-service workflows
  • Security frameworks — CIS, NIST, and ransomware recovery / cyber-resilience patterns

Certifications & Continuing Education

Certifications are highly desired but are not a hard requirement for this role. Ongoing technical growth, however, is — continuing education is an expectation of every member of this team, and targeted certifications may become a necessary addition where appropriate and when applicable to the work. Employees are encouraged to self-enroll in relevant training, webinars, and learning opportunities, and to sit exams as their development warrants.

Where candidates do hold credentials, the following are relevant and valued:

  • VMware: VCP-VCF Administrator (or VCP-DCV); VCP-VCF Architect or VCDX a strong plus
  • Nutanix: NCP-MCI; NCM-MCI a strong plus
  • HashiCorp: Terraform Associate
  • Red Hat: RHCSA or RHCE
  • Public cloud (AWS / Azure) certifications
  • ITIL v4 Foundation or equivalent service-management framework
