Position Summary
The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise IT infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in Linux and Windows servers, networking, security, databases, Azure cloud, Office 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, and SharePoint administration. The engineer will lead technology refresh initiatives and manage SharePoint migrations from On-Premises to Online.
Key Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Design & Administration
- Manage, configure, and optimize Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows Server environments.
- Perform installation, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management of servers and infrastructure components.
- Design high-availability and scalable infrastructure solutions for enterprise workloads.
2. Active Directory & Entra ID (Azure AD)
Administer and maintain on-premises Active Directory, including user/group management, GPOs, OU structure, domain controllers, DNS/DHCP.
Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) including identity synchronization (Azure AD Connect), Conditional Access, MFA policies, identity governance, and SSO integrations.
Implement and optimize hybrid identity models and secure access management.
3. Cloud & Modern Workplace Administration
Administer Microsoft Azure (VMs, Virtual Networks, Storage, App Services, Backup, Security, Monitoring).
Manage Office 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, and security/compliance policies.
Implement governance, licensing management, and automation using PowerShell/Azure CLI.
4. SharePoint Migration & Modernization
Lead full life-cycle SharePoint On-Prem → SharePoint Online migration projects.
Perform readiness assessment, content inventory, mapping, remediation, and migration execution using tools like ShareGate or Microsoft Migration Tool.
Administer SharePoint Online environment: permissions, site collections, hub sites, policies, DLP, and retention.
5. Networking & Security
Manage routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, VPN, and network performance.
Implement security controls such as endpoint protection, IDS/IPS, SSL certificates, access policies, and patching.
Ensure infrastructure adherence to cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements.
6. Database & Storage Administration
Administer SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL databases including installation, performance tuning, backup/restore, and security.
Manage enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS), backups, replication, and DR environments.
7. Technology Refresh & Infrastructure Projects
Lead tech refresh of hardware (servers, network, storage) and modernization to cloud platforms.
Conduct capacity planning, environment upgrades, and lifecycle replacements with minimal downtime.
Provide project leadership and documentation for infrastructure transformation initiatives.
8. Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Operations
Implement infrastructure monitoring using tools such as Azure Monitor, Zabbix, Nagios, SCOM, etc.
Perform advanced troubleshooting of servers, identity services, networks, and cloud workloads.
Conduct RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and implement preventive action plans.
9. Collaboration & Documentation
Work with application, network, security, and business teams to support project and operational needs.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements, automation, and SOP documentation.
Prepare architecture diagrams, implementation plans, and upgrade documents.
Required Skills & Expertise:
Core Technical Skills
Operating Systems: Strong proficiency in Linux and Windows Server.
Identity: Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), Azure AD Connect, Conditional Access, MFA, SSPR, SSO.
Cloud: Azure administration and governance.
Modern Workplace: Office 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, Intune).
SharePoint: Admin and migration from On-Prem to Online.
Network: VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, DNS/DHCP.
Security: Hardening, IAM, endpoint protection, compliance policies.
Database: SQL Server/MySQL/PostgreSQL administration.
Backup & DR: Veeam, Azure Backup, snapshot-based recovery.
Experience
8 - 12 years of hands-on enterprise IT infrastructure experience.
Proven track record in large-scale infra operations and cloud/hybrid environments.
Strong experience in tech refresh, migrations, and modernization.
Demonstrated success with SharePoint On-Prem → Online migrations.
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft certifications: AZ-104, AZ-305, MS-102, MS-700, or equivalent.
Linux (RHCSA/RHCE) or Windows Server certifications.
Experience with automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
ITIL Foundation certification.
