Senior Full-Stack Java Engineer - AWS Lambda / AngularJS - Full Remote - Contractor in USD

Job Description

For an international organization in Geneva, Switzerland, we are urgently looking for a Full Remote Senior Full-Stack Java Developer with AWS Lambda and AngularJS experience. You will modernize and enhance our existing AWS-based web application. The application is built on a serverless architecture using Java-based AWS Lambda functions for the backend and an AngularJS frontend. This engagement will focus on refactoring, runtime upgrades, and performance improvements across the stack. Candidates need to be willing to work normal office hours in Switzerland. This positions is long-term. Tasks and Responsibilities: Improve maintainability, performance, and scalability of the existing application through targeted refactoring and upgrades; Upgrade runtimes (Java & Node.js) to supported versions; Refactor legacy backend and frontend code; Optimize database access patterns and indexing in DynamoDB; Refresh the frontend look and feel for better user experience; (Upgraded Lambda functions with refactored Java code; Optimized DynamoDB data access patterns; Updated AngularJS application with improved structure and styling; Runtime environments (Java, Node.js) updated and tested in acceptance env; Deployment-ready builds; Summary of changes and recommendations for future enhancement; Profile: University degree in computer science, engineering or other related discipline; +10 years of Java development experience; Strong experience with Java (11/17) in AWS Lambda environments; Solid understanding of AWS services: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch; Skilled in DynamoDB data modeling, query optimization, and managing secondary indexes; Proficiency in AngularJS (1.x) and frontend refactoring; Familiar with CI/CD workflows, Git version control; Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on writing clean, modular code; Extensive hands-on experience developing and maintaining serverless applications on AWS, particularly with Java-based Lambda functions; Practical experience optimizing DynamoDB queries and managing database indexes; Demonstrated ability to refactor and enhance frontend applications built with AngularJS (1.x); In-depth knowledge of AWS and cloud best practices; Knowledge of performance monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting in serverless applications; Understanding of UX principles and the ability to implement user-centered design improvements in frontend code; Experience working in Agile development environments and distributed/remote teams; Experience contributing to or managing CI/CD workflows and automated deployments; Fluent in English;
