Job Title: Senior Executive ? Formulation & Development (Color Cosmetics) Experience Required: 3?5 Years Location: Mumbai Department: R&D / Product Development Reports To: Manager / Head ? R&D & Innovation Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Executive ? Color Cosmetics Formulation & Development to drive the creation and optimization of innovative makeup products. This role will focus on developing high-performance color cosmetics?from concept to scale-up?covering lip, eye, and face categories. The position requires strong formulation expertise, creativity in texture and shade design, and the ability to translate global trends into commercially viable, regulatory-compliant products. Key Responsibilities Product Formulation & Development Develop new formulations for lipsticks, foundations, eyeliners, mascaras, powders, and other color cosmetic formats. Optimize product performance across parameters such as texture, payoff, spread ability, long wear, and stability. Work on shade matching, pigment dispersion, and color consistency across batches. Innovation & Trend Translation Research global beauty trends, textures, and formats; adapt them into locally relevant innovations. Experiment with new ingredients, actives, and pigments to enhance functionality and sensorial appeal. Benchmark competitor products to identify performance gaps and differentiation opportunities. Technical Testing & Validation Conduct stability, compatibility, and wear performance studies for new and reformulated products. Collaborate with analytical teams for instrumental testing (e.g., color strength, viscosity, particle size). Ensure shade stability and alignment with brand expectations during trials. Raw Material & Vendor Collaboration Work closely with suppliers to source innovative pigments, binders, and texturizing agents. Evaluate and validate new raw materials through lab trials and small-scale batches. Cross-functional & Scale-up Support Collaborate with packaging, QA, and manufacturing teams to ensure lab-to-pilot-to-scale-up success. Provide technical inputs during pilot and production batches to ensure consistency. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate formulation records, trial reports, shade libraries, and regulatory documentation. Ensure compliance with BIS, FDA, EU, and global cosmetic regulations. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor?s / Master?s in Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related field. 3?5 years of experience in color cosmetics formulation and development. Strong technical knowledge of pigments, dispersions, emulsions, and delivery systems in makeup. Hands-on experience in shade development and sensory optimization. Understanding of cosmetic regulations and quality standards. Preferred Attributes Creative and passionate about beauty, fashion, and makeup trends.
