We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead the development and evolution of platform management and automation systems that enable seamless deployment, operation, and observability of distributed database clusters across cloud and on-premises environments. In this role, you will guide engineering teams responsible for building automation frameworks, Kubernetes-based orchestration tools, and monitoring systems that ensure reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency. The position combines strong technical leadership with people management responsibilities, requiring the ability to drive architectural decisions, mentor engineering teams, and align technical initiatives with broader product and business goals. You will work closely with product management, site reliability engineering, and platform teams to deliver a robust operational experience for customers running large-scale distributed systems. The role also involves defining long-term technical strategies for cluster lifecycle management, automation, and observability while ensuring high engineering standards and predictable delivery. Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineering teams responsible for platform automation, cluster lifecycle management, and monitoring systems
• Own the architecture and development of Kubernetes-based operators and orchestration frameworks for distributed platforms
• Drive the design and implementation of automation systems that simplify deployment, scaling, and maintenance of distributed clusters
• Establish engineering best practices related to system reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability
• Conduct design reviews and guide teams in building high-quality, production-ready software
• Collaborate with product management, SRE, and infrastructure teams to align technical solutions with product strategy and operational goals
• Build and enhance observability frameworks that provide monitoring, logging, and performance insights
• Support teams in solving complex distributed system challenges and removing technical blockers
• Define engineering roadmaps and track delivery against strategic goals and operational metrics
• Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing within engineering teams
• Ensure consistent collaboration across globally distributed teams and stakeholders
• Contribute to architectural decisions and remain hands-on with technical guidance when necessary
  
  

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including at least 3 years in engineering leadership or management roles
• Proven experience leading teams building Kubernetes Operators, controllers, or platform automation tools
• Strong programming expertise in Golang, Java, or Python
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and lifecycle management of stateful workloads
• Experience working with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar platforms
• Solid background in distributed systems and large-scale backend platform development
• Experience designing or operating cloud-native infrastructure and containerized platforms
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
• Strong architectural thinking and problem-solving abilities in complex distributed environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience managing engineering OKRs, project delivery timelines, and cross-team coordination
• Ability to collaborate effectively with global teams and cross-functional stakeholders
