Job Summary
The Senior eCommerce Content Strategist is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and optimization of product-focused digital content across the ecommerce ecosystem. This role is centered on ecommerce writing and digital shelf execution, ensuring that product detail page (PDP) content, SEO metadata, and enhanced content are crafted to drive discoverability, conversion, and revenue growth.
This position requires deep expertise in writing for ecommerce platforms, including structuring and optimizing product content for search algorithms, retailer requirements, and evolving AI-driven discovery experiences. The role blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution, partnering closely with product, ecommerce, and analytics teams to ensure content is customer-centric, data-driven, and built to perform.

Essential Job Functions*
- Own and evolve a best-in-class ecommerce content strategy focused on product-level content and digital shelf performance, aligning business objectives, customer needs, and platform requirements.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive content playbook that defines standards specifically for product copy, PDP structure, SEO metadata, enhanced content modules, and retailer-specific content requirements.
- Establish scalable frameworks, templates, and best practices that enable consistent execution across products, categories, and retail partner ecommerce websites.
- Serve as the internal expert on ecommerce writing best practices, including how content should be structured and optimized for both search engines and conversion.
- Own the writing and editing of ecommerce product content, including PDP copy, feature/benefit bullets, product descriptions, SEO metadata, and AEO/GEO content.
- Identify and prioritize optimization opportunities that drive measurable improvements in traffic, conversion, and sales across ecommerce platforms.
- Conduct competitive and category-level analysis focused specifically on digital shelf content and product page execution.
- Partner with product, ecommerce, sales, and marketing teams to ensure content strategy supports launches, promotions, and ongoing portfolio optimization.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to align content initiatives with performance measurement and testing strategies.
- Provide guidance and direction to internal content contributors and account owners to ensure consistent, high-quality execution.
- Use data and insights to evaluate content effectiveness and inform ongoing optimization.
- Leverage Salsify analytics and digital shelf reporting to monitor PDP performance, enhanced content adoption, and retailer compliance.
- Translate performance insights into clear recommendations, action plans, and strategic guidance for stakeholders.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business analytics, economics, data science, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in ecommerce content strategy, digital content management, or SEO-focused content roles.
- Experience developing content standards, governance models, and scalable frameworks.
- Experience working with major ecommerce retailers such as Amazon, HomeDepot.com, Lowes.com, Walmart.com, or similar platforms.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a deep understanding of conversion-driven, user-centered content.
- Familiarity with Salsify, digital shelf tools, and modern SEO/AEO best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate insights into action.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional, fast-paced environments.
