We are building a Data Analytics capability in India that collaborates closely with international teams. As part of our digital transformation, we are strengthening our data and analytics capabilities to enable more AI-powered, data-driven decision making across our global organization.

Role -

As a Data Scientist, your focus will be to analyze complex datasets, develop analytical models, and create scalable analytics solutions that support strategic and operational decision-making. You will work closely with our Global Strategy Team (dotted-line reporting) to support key strategic and operational activities such as business reviews, strategic initiatives and our planning processes.

You will work with a variety of data sources including ERP systems (e.g., SAP), CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce), cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Azure, and external market datasets. The role combines strong technical data science work with collaboration across functions such as sales, strategy, corporate planning, procurement and operations.

You will have the chance to shape this capability at Viega as we are committed to ramp up this team to up to 3 team members in mid-term. You will be based in Ahmedabad. During your onboarding you will meet key people across our international markets as well as in our Corporate HQ in Germany.

Typical Responsibilities

• Analyze large and complex datasets from internal and external sources
• Develop statistical models, predictive analytics, and advanced data analyses
• Leverage state-of-the-art AI and machine learning techniques to enhance analytics capabilities
• Build and maintain structured datasets and data pipelines for scalable analysis
• Identify patterns and trends in sales, market, and operational data
• Create dashboards and visualizations to support data-driven decision-making
• Collaborate with international teams (Sales, Strategy, Product Management, IT, Procurement) and provide analytical insights to global stakeholders
• Contribute to scalable analytics use cases across the organization
• Proactively identify opportunities where data and analytics can create business value
• Take ownership of analytical problems end-to-end — from problem framing to delivering actionable insights

Requirements for the Role

Technical / Data Science Skills (Primary Focus)

• Relevant 5+ years' experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or R
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and data manipulation
• Experience working with large enterprise datasets such as SAP, ERP platforms, Snowflake, Azure, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), or similar
• Knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and data modeling
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or similar
• Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL processes, and modern data environments
• MBA degree preferred but not mandatory
