Senior Backend QA Automation Engineer ? API Testing

THIS IS A LONG-TERM CONTRACT POSITION WITH ONE OF THE LARGEST, GLOBAL, TECHNOLOGY LEADERS. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Test Engineer with strong expertise in Backend | REST API Automation | Java | DevOps tools . You will be part of a dynamic engineering team in Pune, working on building robust, scalable, and high-quality cloud and web products. This is a hybrid role based in Pune. Key Responsibilities: Own and execute end-to-end backend automation for new and existing features. Define the QA strategy for the team and set up robust release management practices . Collaborate with product managers and designers to understand requirements and convert them into detailed test plans . Write clean assertions that map to business acceptance criteria and maintain stable automation suites. Drive automation coverage within the scrum team and implement best practices for scalable and maintainable frameworks. Identify flaky tests, strengthen automation stability, and optimize the testing pyramid. Work closely with engineering teams in a fast-paced, agile environment. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree in Engineering from a reputed institution. 5?8 years of professional experience in Software Testing or SDET roles. Strong hands-on experience in Java , JavaScript, or Python for automation scripting. Expertise with REST API automation frameworks such as RestAssured, Karate, etc. Proficiency in BDD frameworks like Cucumber or JBehave. Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter or equivalent). Hands-on experience with Jira, Jenkins, Git , and version control workflows. Strong understanding of automation strategy, test environments, and CI/CD pipelines.
