Job Description Senior Backend Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a seasoned Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Object-Oriented or Functional Programming Languages and building distributed systems. You will architect, develop, and optimize the backbone of our financial products?delivering the performance, resiliency, and security necessary in the world of digital finance. Key Responsibilities Architect, design, and develop robust, scalable backend services and APIs using modern OOP or functional programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Scala, Kotlin, Python, Go, Rust, Elixir). Engineer distributed systems that handle high throughput, low latency, and mission-critical reliability. Optimize existing backend infrastructure for scalability, maintainability, and cost-efficiency. Collaborate with product, frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end solutions. Implement secure coding practices, especially related to financial transactions, data privacy, and compliance requirements. Drive technical decisions, review code, and mentor junior engineers. Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies and best practices for distributed backend systems. Skills & Requirements Bachelor?s or Master?s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of backend development experience with proven expertise in object-oriented (OOPS) or functional programming languages. Solid experience in designing and maintaining distributed systems and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, pub/sub models). Strong understanding of RESTful API design, microservices, and service-oriented architectures. Proficient in database design and optimization for both SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) systems. Production experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD practices. Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing for backend applications. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). Nice To Have Experience in the FinTech sector, especially with digital payments, banking, wealth management, or related financial domains. Knowledge of regulatory and security best practices (PCI DSS, GDPR, SOC2, etc.). Exposure to high performance, low latency transaction processing. Interest or experience in blockchain or cryptographic technologies. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills. Excellent communication and collaboration in fast-paced, cross-functional teams. Passionate about code quality, operational excellence, and performance.
