Senior Backend Engineer (Python/FastAPI)

This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Location: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune JobType: full-time Requirements What Success Looks Like (First 3-6 Months): Build and scale high-performance backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI. Design modular, extensible microservices that integrate seamlessly with distributed systems. Take ownership of performance, scalability, and fault tolerance for services handling millions of time series data points. Optimize data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines. Collaborate closely with frontend, ML, and infrastructure teams to deliver stable, production-grade services. Contribute to system design discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making. Tech Stack You'll Work With: Languages: Python (primary), SQL Frameworks: FastAPI, Flask (secondary), asyncio Infrastructure / Tooling: Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Airflow Data / Workflow: Kafka, Postgres, Redis, Celery Testing / CI/CD: Pytest, unit and integration testing frameworks What We're Looking For: Must-Haves: 4-8 years of experience in backend product engineering. Strong expertise in Python and FastAPI (or similar frameworks). Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design. Proven experience building scalable, production-grade REST APIs. Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and microservice architectures. Strong SQL and data modeling skills. Familiarity with async programming and performance optimization. Nice-to-Haves: Exposure to distributed compute frameworks like Spark, Dask, or Ray. Experience with Kubernetes, AWS/GCP, or MLOps-style data pipelines.
