Project description We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Backbase Backend Consultant to join our engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize backend services that power complex, large-scale systems. You will collaborate closely with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions aligned with modern engineering best practices. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot. Architect and implement microservices following industry-standard patterns and best practices. Build solutions leveraging event-driven architecture, including message brokers and asynchronous processing. Contribute to architectural decision-making, code reviews, and technical design documents. Troubleshoot production issues and ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of backend systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, QA, Frontend, Product) to deliver end-to-end features and improvements. Drive continuous improvement by advocating for modern engineering principles, automation, testing, and clean code. Skills Must have Expert-level proficiency in Java (8+ or 11+/17+) and at least 8 years of experience. Deep knowledge of Spring Framework and Spring Boot, including Spring Data, Spring Security, and dependency injection concepts. Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and common patterns such as service discovery, circuit breakers, API gateways, and distributed tracing. Strong understanding of event-driven architecture, including messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar. Profound knowledge and proven hands-on experience with the Backbase product portfolio, including its architecture, services, integration patterns, and customization capabilities. The candidate must be able to design, extend, and troubleshoot Backbase components within complex enterprise ecosystems. Solid grasp of RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and backend performance optimization. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to work independently and guide teams.
