Scala Developer

About Position:

The Scala Developer role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data engineering solutions on Azure. The individual will leverage Scala, Apache Spark, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Azure Cosmos DB to build high-performance data pipelines and distributed processing solutions. This role requires strong expertise in modern data engineering practices, cloud-based architectures, and performance optimisation to support enterprise-scale analytics and business-critical workloads.

What You'll Do:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Scala and Apache Spark.
• Develop and orchestrate ETL/ELT workflows using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Implement data ingestion, transformation, and processing solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Work with Azure Cosmos DB for high-volume data storage and retrieval.
• Develop reusable frameworks, utilities, and data engineering best practices.
• Optimise Spark workloads for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with architects, business stakeholders, and development teams to understand data requirements.
• Monitor production pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance improvements.
• Support CI/CD implementation and deployment automation.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.
• Create technical documentation and support knowledge-transfer activities.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 6+ years of overall IT experience with strong data engineering expertise.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Scala and Apache Spark development.
• Strong experience building enterprise-scale data pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB in production environments.
• Experience handling large-scale distributed data processing workloads.
• Strong understanding of Spark performance tuning and optimisation techniques.
• Expertise in cloud-based data engineering architectures and ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
