Safety Officer
The Industrial Safety officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment across manufacturing plants and branch locations by ensuring compliance with statutory safety regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices. The role involves conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, safety training programs, emergency preparedness activities, and implementing proactive measures to prevent workplace incidents. The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams to strengthen the organization's safety culture and ensure a zero-harm workplace.
Educational Qualification
- M.E./M.Tech in Industrial Safety or
- B.Tech in Fire & Safety
- B.Sc Chemistry + Dip in Safety
- Dip in Chemical + Dip in Safety
- B.E + Dip in Safety
Experience
- Freshers and experienced candidates are welcome to apply.
- Candidates with an Industrial Safety background will be preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident personality with strong interpersonal and convincing skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India.
- Flexible to work in different shifts and locations based on business requirements.
- Basic knowledge of industrial safety standards and statutory compliance.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct safety induction programs for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Organize and lead daily Safety Tool Box Talks.
- Carry out routine plant safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions and practices.
- Monitor and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory and ensure timely availability.
- Issue and monitor safety work permits for various hazardous jobs.
- Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR), Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).
- Inspect emergency response equipment and ensure periodic calibration and maintenance.
- Conduct safety awareness and training programs across branches and manufacturing facilities.
- Plan and execute periodic emergency mock drills to evaluate emergency preparedness.
- Organize First Aid training programs for employees.
- Conduct Fire Fighting training and demonstrations to improve emergency response capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, statutory regulations, and environmental, health & safety (EHS) standards.
- Prepare and maintain safety records, inspection reports, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Support the Safety Manager in implementing continuous safety improvement initiatives across all locations.
