Quality Engineer
Position Overview
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining quality systems related to manufacturing processes and finished products. This role works closely with operations, engineering, and production teams to ensure quality standards are met, while driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
The position plays a key role in product launches, root cause investigations, customer communication, and supplier quality management.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a customer-facing quality contact during product launches, issue resolution, and ongoing process improvement initiatives
- Evaluate nonconforming hardware in accordance with customer specifications and coordinate formal review and disposition when required
- Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and support the disposition process for nonconforming products
- Develop and implement quality alerts, corrective actions, and preventive measures to maintain product integrity
- Provide documentation and data for new product introductions, including activities such as First Article Inspection (FAI), PFMEA, and PPAP when required
- Conduct source inspections and workstation audits as needed
- Issue and manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR/VCAR) related to vendor quality concerns
- Develop inspection procedures and instructions for manufactured components and assemblies
- Participate in internal audits of the Quality Management System
- Review purchase orders and technical documentation to ensure quality and specification requirements are clearly understood
- Analyze quality data and trends to identify opportunities to reduce defects and improve process performance
- Provide quality support to production teams, including visual aids, inspection guidance, and process feedback
- Review engineering drawings and revisions to verify quality requirements are incorporated
- Assist with qualification of parts, inspection processes, and suppliers
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and machinists to resolve manufacturing and quality-related issues
- Recommend improvements to procedures, processes, and workflows that enhance product quality and operational efficiency
- Support implementation of process improvements such as updated work instructions, inspection methods, fixtures, and quality standards
- Maintain quality documentation and records as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working with quality methodologies such as FAI, PFMEA, PPAP, corrective actions, and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and NADCAP accreditation environments strongly preferred
- Understanding of GD&T, FMEA, Gage R&R, and statistical capability analysis
- Experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications
- Working knowledge of machining processes and manufacturing equipment is beneficial
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Regular and predictable attendance required
- Frequent movement throughout manufacturing areas
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer and phone
- Work environment may include exposure to manufacturing noise and production floor conditions
- Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing
