About The Role
Wing is looking for a Mfg Quality Engineer to join our Quality Team based onsite in Chennai, India. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated and highly disciplined person who enjoys working in a fast paced and highly dynamic team environment. The successful candidate is able to demonstrate solid records and experience in production quality, hardware failure analysis and project management. This candidate should be a team player working with Contract Manufacturer (CM) teams, Wing Reliability, hardware, mechanical engineering and other teams. The candidate should be able to drive CM’s mfg quality issue resolution and effectively communicate to management, cross functional teams, as well as the CM(s).

About The Role
Wing is looking for a Mfg Quality Engineer to join our Quality Team based onsite in Chennai, India. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated and highly disciplined person who enjoys working in a fast paced and highly dynamic team environment. The successful candidate is able to demonstrate solid records and experience in production quality, hardware failure analysis and project management. This candidate should be a team player working with Contract Manufacturer (CM) teams, Wing Reliability, hardware, mechanical engineering and other teams. The candidate should be able to drive CM’s mfg quality issue resolution and effectively communicate to management, cross functional teams, as well as the CM(s).
What You’ll Do
- Responsible for setting and executing advanced quality plans including incoming, in process and outgoing quality checks for assemblies or components at the CM
- Define and review specification requirements for fit, function, and reliability by working together with Wing Mechanical Engineering, Hardware Engineering and reliability team
- Work with massive amounts of data and measure quality
- Identify, record, and report any problems through trend analysis, and drive production yield improvement
- Perform incoming inspection as required as well as final inspection
- Audit CM’s entire process including SMT, and drive sub tier supplier SCARs corresponding identified in CM’s process audit
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions to CM’s non-compliance identified in CM’s process audit
- Manage CM’s SMT and assembly line qualifications in different stages of product life cycle
- Manage CM’s quality performance and drive continuous improvement activities
- Identify potential suppliers, audit their quality system, and assess their manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of materials, product design, manufacturing, assembly, testing etc. as required
- Sustain CM’s production from quality perspective in mass production phase, provide update to Wing management and cross functional teams on regular basis
- 5+ years of experience in quality or reliability engineering role that manages product from NPI to significant volumes at the manufacturing stage
- BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Industrial experience in injection molding, CNC machining, die casting, mechanical assembly, testing or PCBA SMT
- Ability to effectively communicate with cross functional teams and leadership team
- Strong manufacturing background in developing robust and repeatable processes to scale new products, including process qualification, process quality control and line qualification in a rapid schedule
- Familiarity with standards such as AS9100, ISO9001, TS16949, IPC-A-610 etc
- Expert in driving engineering requirements, and continuous quality improvement at vendors and contract manufacturers
- Understanding GD&T, tolerance stack up and design
- Capable of identifying the time when help is needed and ask for help
- JMP, Minitab and Six Sigma experience
