Job Description – QA Consultant
Position Details

Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive QA Consultant with strong experience in software testing, test case writing, execution, defect tracking, and QA coordination. The ideal candidate should be capable of working closely with Business Analysts, Development, Support, Implementation, and Release teams to ensure high-quality product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Test Case Design & Documentation
- Write detailed test cases for change requests by reviewing updated Functional Specification Documents (FSDs) from JIRA.
- Coordinate with Business Analysts (BA) and Development teams to clarify requirements and attend walkthrough sessions.
- Draft and maintain test cases in TestRail based on approved FSDs.
- Create regression, client-specific, and issue-based test scenarios and test cases.
- Update and maintain the regression test bank in TestRail.
- Review test cases prepared by junior QA consultants.
Test Execution & Defect Management
- Execute test cases and accurately update results in TestRail.
- Perform regression, functional, and issue-based testing.
- Review testing activities carried out by junior consultants.
- Report, track, retest, and follow up on defects in JIRA until closure.
- Ensure product quality and adherence to QA standards throughout the release cycle.
QA Coordination & Collaboration
- Work closely with QA, BA, Development, Support, and Implementation teams to complete assigned tasks.
- Participate in release planning and QA estimation activities.
- Provide timely status updates, reports, and task progress details.
Environment Setup & Maintenance
- Learn and implement product build installations and upgrades in QA environments.
- Troubleshoot and debug QA environment issues.
- Coordinate with build engineers for setup requirements and executable management.
- Support QA environment maintenance activities.
Training & Mentorship
- Train and mentor junior QA team members on product functionality, testing processes, QA tools, and environment setup.
- Stay updated with new product releases, functionalities, and project requirements within the QA department.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing concepts, and defect life cycle.
- Hands-on experience in test case writing, execution, and defect tracking.
- Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and TestRail is preferred.
- Good analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
- Graduate in Computer Science, IT Engineering, BCA, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–6 years of relevant QA/testing experience.
- ISTQB certification or other software testing certifications will be an added advantage.
