QA Tester (Freelance / Contract)

Role Description

This is a freelance/contract remote role for a QA Tester. The QA Tester will be responsible for executing test plans, identifying and reporting bugs, and ensuring the overall quality of our software products. Day-to-day tasks include manual testing, creating and maintaining test cases, and collaborating with the development team to resolve issues and improve functionality.

Qualifications

• Skilled in Test Execution and creating detailed Test Cases
• Strong expertise in Manual Testing and Quality Assurance processes
• Excellent Analytical Skills and a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies is a plus
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote environment
• Experience with testing tools and software is advantageous

What you'll do

• Test new features end-to-end across iOS and Android (UI, UX, flows, edge cases)
• Read PRDs and write test cases independently — happy paths and edge cases both
• Test backend APIs (REST) using Postman or similar — response validation, error handling, auth flows
• Identify and document bugs clearly with steps to reproduce, screenshots, and severity
• Flag security concerns — auth edge cases, data exposure, permission handling
• Work closely with the founding team during active development sprints

What we're looking for

• 2+ years of QA experience on mobile apps (Flutter experience is a plus)
• Solid understanding of backend/API testing — you're comfortable in Postman and know what a 401 vs 403 means
• Eye for UX detail — you notice when something feels off, not just when it breaks
• Ability to work independently and write your own test plans from feature docs
• Basic security testing awareness — OWASP Mobile Top 10 familiarity preferred
• Available 9 AM – 6 PM IST, Monday to Saturday (2-4 hours/day commitment)

Engagement

• Contract: 1–2 months (with potential to extend)
• 3-4 hours/day, part-time/ fulltime
• Remote, India-based
• Immediate start preferred
