QA Automation Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer with 4–8 years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks for web applications. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Playwright, Java with Selenium, API Automation, and CI/CD pipelines.

In this role, you will work closely with Product, Engineering, and QA teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality software through scalable test automation, continuous integration, and best testing practices. The ideal candidate should have a strong mindset, excellent analytical skills, and hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks and Agile development methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

Test Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright and Selenium with Java.
• Develop and execute automated test scripts for web applications.
• Create reusable automation components to improve test coverage and execution efficiency.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation suites as applications evolve.
  
  

API Automation

• Develop and execute automated API test cases using REST APIs.
• Validate request/response payloads, authentication mechanisms, and service integrations.
• Perform functional, regression, and integration testing for APIs.
• Collaborate with development teams to validate backend services.
  
  

CI/CD & Quality Engineering

• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
• Support continuous testing within DevOps environments.
• Analyze automation execution results and troubleshoot failures.
• Collaborate with developers to resolve defects and improve software quality.
  
  

Test Planning & Execution

• Review business and functional requirements to identify automation opportunities.
• Prepare automation strategies, test plans, and test cases.
• Execute functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing.
• Report defects with clear documentation and support defect resolution.
  
  

Collaboration & Process Improvement

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and grooming sessions.
• Work closely with Developers, Product Owners, and Business Analysts.
• Recommend improvements to automation frameworks and QA processes.
• Mentor junior QA engineers whenever required.
  
  

Technical Requirements

Must-Have Skills

• 4–8 years of experience in QA Automation.
• Strong experience with Playwright automation framework.
• Strong experience in Java with Selenium WebDriver.
• Hands-on experience in API Automation (REST APIs).
• Experience using API testing tools such as Postman or Rest Assured.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and SDLC/STLC.
• Experience integrating automation suites with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, etc.).
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter is an added advantage.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience working with SQL databases and writing database validations.
• Knowledge of test management tools such as Jira, TestRail, or Azure DevOps.
