Role: Programmer / Automation Developer

Location: Hybrid-Delhi NCR

Employment Type: Full-time

Experience: 3–6 years (Programming + Accounting/Finance background preferred)

Company description:

GATP Solutions is an India-based accounting and back-office services firm serving US clients across e-commerce, real estate, and healthcare. Our edge is built on AI-driven automation, complete back-office ownership, and CPA-level credentialing.

We are now moving away from VBA macros to cloud-based programs, databases, and SQL-driven tools so that our applications stay flexible as the team grows and client needs evolve — and deliver 100% accurate results, every time.

Role Description:

We are hiring a Programmer / Automation Developer who can translate the day-to-day needs of our accounting team into reliable cloud-based tools. You will work closely with team members, understand what they actually need, and build solutions that are simple to use, fully accurate, and easy to maintain.

This is a hands-on builder role for someone who genuinely enjoys turning messy, manual workflows into clean automated systems — and who can explain in plain English what the program is doing and why.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand requirements: Sit with team members, listen to the problem they are trying to solve, and translate it into a clear scope before writing a single line of code.
  • Build cloud-based applications: Design and develop tools using modern stacks (Python, JavaScript/Node.js, SQL databases like PostgreSQL/MySQL, REST APIs) to replace legacy Excel/VBA macros.
  • Automate workflows: Build end-to-end automations using Zapier, Make.com, or similar no-code/low-code platforms — connected to QuickBooks Online, Xero, Karbon, Google Workspace, Slack and other tools we use.
  • Use AI as a tool: Leverage Claude, ChatGPT, and similar AI tools to accelerate development, write better code, and prototype faster — while owning the final quality of what ships.
  • Explain in simple language: Document every program in plain, non-technical language so accountants can understand what it does, what inputs it needs, and what to do if something looks off.
  • Debug and support: When errors happen, troubleshoot quickly, identify root causes, fix them, and put guardrails in place so the same issue does not return.
  • Ensure 100% accuracy: Build validation checks, reconciliation logic, and audit trails into every tool. Accounting work has no room for silent errors.
  • Maintain and scale: Keep tools running smoothly as the team grows and client requirements change. Build for flexibility, not one-time use.

Qualifications:

  • Strong programming skills: Proficient in at least one modern language (Python preferred; JavaScript/Node.js, C#, or similar also welcome).
  • Database knowledge: Comfortable with SQL, designing schemas, writing queries, and working with cloud databases.
  • Zapier (or equivalent): Proven experience building multi-step Zaps, handling webhooks, error paths, and connecting business apps.
  • AI tool fluency: Daily working knowledge of Claude, ChatGPT, or similar — including effective prompting, validating AI output, and knowing where AI helps vs. where it must not be trusted.
  • Accounting/finance exposure: Hands-on familiarity with accounting concepts (debits/credits, reconciliations, P&L, balance sheet) and tools like QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar — strongly preferred.
  • Clear communication: Ability to translate technical work into plain English for non-technical accountants and clients.
  • Debugging mindset: Methodical approach to isolating bugs, reading logs, and explaining what went wrong without jargon.
  • Ownership: Treats every tool as its own product — from gathering requirements to post-launch support.
