Production Supervisor – Job Description
Supervises production line operations and employees to fulfill customer orders. Ensures that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and standards. Maintains smooth production during work shifts and promptly resolves all related problems. Works cross-functionally with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and Warehouse.
Essential Duties

Supervises production line operations and employees to fulfill customer orders. Ensures that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and standards. Maintains smooth production during work shifts and promptly resolves all related problems. Works cross-functionally with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and Warehouse.
Essential Duties
- Assigns daily production duties to hourly employees and follows up on the timely achievement of such duties assuring that production on schedule is followed accordingly.
- Communicates issues encountered such as raw material problems, finished product rejections, and equipment malfunction to the plant manager, and quality control and maintenance.
- Logs all production paperwork including completing the daily production report in the I-Series.
- Monitors line equipment for functionality, safety, and cleanliness. Performs daily GMP audits and sanitation audits and addresses issues with hourly employees. Assures that sanitation paperwork is filled out and submitted on a scheduled basis. Assists quality control. Helps maintain a safe work environment.
- Assists plant manager and quality control staff in customer complaint and rejection root cause investigations and corrective action generations. Implements corrective actions from such investigations within the department.
- Holds hourly employee–supervisor meetings weekly to discuss various department-related issues.
- Operates production department forklifts regularly helping hourly employees with finished product placement and raw material retrieval as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma with 3 – 5 years of work experience in a related field and successful completion of on-the-job training. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with the ability to read and write reports.
- Ability to give and receive thorough instructions and communicate effectively with other members of management and employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
- Ability to solve common problems in several concrete, standard situations.
- Ability to give and follow instructions.
- Promote a safe working environment, following work safety policies and food safety established procedures.
- Ability to comfortably operate manufacturing equipment and standard office equipment, including desktop computers.
- Must be forklift certified and will operate a forklift regularly.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- 3-5 years of solid experience supervising in a food manufacturing setting.
- Basic to proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to understand “the big picture” and make sound business decisions.
- Act with professionalism and treat people with dignity and respect.
- Meet and exceed production expectations for the line’s daily schedule.
