Production Planner

Job Summary

The Materials & Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities while ensuring timely availability of materials. The role focuses on optimizing inventory levels, improving production efficiency, and ensuring on-time delivery to customers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Scheduling

• Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on demand forecasts and customer orders
• Create and manage production schedules to ensure optimal utilization of manpower and machines
• Coordinate with shop floor teams to execute plans effectively
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed

2. Material Planning

• Plan and ensure availability of raw materials, components, and consumables
• Generate Material Requirement Plans (MRP) based on production schedules
• Coordinate with procurement for timely material availability
• Track shortages and proactively mitigate risks

3. Inventory Management

• Maintain optimal inventory levels (RM, WIP, FG)
• Monitor slow-moving and excess inventory
• Implement inventory control strategies to reduce carrying cost
• Ensure accuracy of inventory records in ERP systems

4. Coordination & Communication

• Liaise with Procurement, Production, Quality, and Logistics teams
• Align production plans with supply constraints and customer priorities
• Communicate changes in demand or delays to stakeholders

5. Data Analysis & Reporting

• Analyze demand vs production capacity
• Prepare production and inventory reports
• Track KPIs such as:
• On-Time Delivery (OTD)
• Inventory Turns
• Plan Adherence
• Material Availability

6. Continuous Improvement

• Identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives
• Improve planning accuracy and reduce lead time
