Job Description
The Production Manager is responsible for converting customer demand into a forward-looking production schedule, while managing customer communications and ensuring accurate invoicing. This role oversees the development of the weekly production plan, serves as the main point of contact for coordinating customer orders, and supports the order-to-cash process. Acting as a central liaison between customers, production, and finance, the position helps ensure dependable delivery and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain weekly production schedules based on demand and capacity
- Adjust plans proactively to reflect changes in demand, inventory, or operations
- Communicate schedules and updates to internal teams
Customer Order Management & Support
- Serve as primary contact for order status, lead times, and delivery expectations
- Translate customer orders into production requirements
- Manage expectations and resolve order issues
Invoicing & Order-to-Cash Coordination
- Prepare accurate invoices for shipped orders
- Coordinate with finance to ensure billing accuracy
- Support order closure and basic AR follow-up
Cross-Functional Coordination & Process Improvement
- Collaborate with production, sales, and shipping to ensure smooth fulfillment
- Maintain accurate order and scheduling records
- Identify process improvements and support operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in production planning, operations, or similar role (manufacturing/food environment)
- Experience building and managing production schedules
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP, MRP, or order management systems
