Position: Senior Team Lead – Mechanical Engineering for New Product Development

Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Team Lead for New Product Development is responsible for guiding a team of mechanical engineers in the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and products. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest engineering standards.

He/She should be performing as individual contributor also.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Development
• Oversee the design and development of complete machinery, mechanical components and optimizing system mix of mechanical, hydraulics, electrical and automation.
• Review and approve engineering designs to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, hydraulic, software, manufacturing etc) to integrate mechanical solutions.
• Ensure DFMEA, DFA, DFM
• Perform calculations, design and drafting as an individual contributor.
• Project Oversight
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and present reports on project status, team performance, and resource needs.
• Quality & Innovation
• Ensure all designs meet engineering best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and adopt emerging technologies.
• Leadership & Management
• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers.
• Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and foster professional development.
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge and Hands on experience in CAD softwares like Creo (preferably) /SolidWorks, AutoCAD etc.
• Experience with Structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Simulation software for stress and strain analysis.
• Proficiency in FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis), DFM (Design for Manufacturing) etc. tools
• Hands on Design calculations
• Experience with Windchill and PLM
• Experience of Standards and Regulations such as ISO, ANSI, CE etc.
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, material science, and mechanical systems
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical problems, using analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Commitment to innovation and continuous learning.
• Having Patents / IP rights and driving that culture will be preferred.
  
  

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 15-20 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in Heavy Industrial machinery (preferably Plastic IMM), Earthmoving machinery, Construction machinery
• Proven track record of managing complex engineering projects.
