Job Title: Procurement Assistant/Assistant Procurement Manager

Role Overview

The Manager – Government Business Development will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing government projects and contracts. The role involves managing end-to-end government tendering processes, building relationships with government departments, and ensuring successful project acquisition.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and track upcoming government tenders, RFPs, RFQs, and EoIs
  • Analyze tender documents and evaluate business feasibility
  • Coordinate with internal teams (technical, finance, legal) for bid preparation
  • Prepare and submit tender documents, proposals, and compliance paperwork
  • Liaise with government officials, PSUs, and public sector bodies
  • Handle pre-bid meetings, clarifications, and negotiations
  • Ensure compliance with government procurement rules and timelines
  • Maintain a pipeline of government opportunities and report progress to management
  • Support contract finalization and handover to execution teams
  • Keep up to date with changes in government procurement policies


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of government tendering processes
  • Experience with GeM portal / e-procurement portals (if applicable)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to interpret legal and commercial terms
  • Strong coordination and documentation skills
  • Relationship-building with government stakeholders
  • Strategic thinking and result-oriented mindset


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Management, or related field
  • MBA (Sales/Marketing/Operations) preferred


Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in government business development / tendering
  • Proven track record of winning government or PSU projects


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Number of tenders submitted
  • Win rate of government bids
  • Value of government contracts secured
  • Quality and timeliness of bid submissions
