Job Title: Procurement Assistant/Assistant Procurement Manager
Role Overview
The Manager – Government Business Development will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing government projects and contracts. The role involves managing end-to-end government tendering processes, building relationships with government departments, and ensuring successful project acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and track upcoming government tenders, RFPs, RFQs, and EoIs
- Analyze tender documents and evaluate business feasibility
- Coordinate with internal teams (technical, finance, legal) for bid preparation
- Prepare and submit tender documents, proposals, and compliance paperwork
- Liaise with government officials, PSUs, and public sector bodies
- Handle pre-bid meetings, clarifications, and negotiations
- Ensure compliance with government procurement rules and timelines
- Maintain a pipeline of government opportunities and report progress to management
- Support contract finalization and handover to execution teams
- Keep up to date with changes in government procurement policies
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of government tendering processes
- Experience with GeM portal / e-procurement portals (if applicable)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to interpret legal and commercial terms
- Strong coordination and documentation skills
- Relationship-building with government stakeholders
- Strategic thinking and result-oriented mindset
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Management, or related field
- MBA (Sales/Marketing/Operations) preferred
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in government business development / tendering
- Proven track record of winning government or PSU projects
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Number of tenders submitted
- Win rate of government bids
- Value of government contracts secured
- Quality and timeliness of bid submissions
