Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Process Engineer to join the team.


Hart Process Services (HPS) is a growing multidisciplinary design consultancy with approximately 40 engineers and designers, specialising in:


  • Process Engineering
  • Process Safety
  • Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I)
  • Mechanical, Piping and Layout   
  • Validation
  • Project Management


We support a wide variety of clients in the whisky distilling, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. With around 30 active projects at any time, our typical design project values reach up to £3 million in fees.


Job Title:     Process Engineer


Hours:        Full time / 40 hours per week


Location:    Unit A10, The Embankment Business Park, Heaton Mersey, SK4 3GN


Salary:       £40,000 - £50,000 DOE


HPS require an early career Process Engineer (circa 2 to 5 years’ experience) to work on projects for clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical / life science and food / beverage industries. The role will be predominantly based in the HPS offices located at Heaton Mersey, Manchester with some commitment site working.

 

The Process Engineer will have experience of working as a process engineer within a design team producing high quality engineering deliverables to budget and time.


Key Responsibilities


The Process Engineer main responsibilities


  • Development and maintenance of PFDs, P&IDs and other process drawings.
  • Generation of process calculations, e.g. heat & mass balances, hydraulics, pressure relief, vents & overflows, equipment sizing.
  • Generation of equipment data sheets and specifications.
  • Scheduling of process plant items from project P&IDs including the provision of process instrument data.
  • Input to process descriptions, control philosophies and other narrative process documents.
  • Participation in design reviews (e.g. P&ID reviews, model / layout reviews).
  • Attendance, scribing and action management at technical safety reviews such as HAZOP and LOPA.
  • Preparation of Hazardous Area Classification calculations and reporting to comply with relevant guides and standards (e.g. BS EN 60079).
  • Liaison and interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
  • Liaison with process equipment vendors.
  • Working to relevant UK, international, company and client guides and standards, e.g. The Pressure Equipment Regulations, The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations, API 2000.
  • Development, validation and update of HPS process calculation and deliverables templates


Skills and Experience

 

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Proven relevant Process Engineering experience.
  • Proven ability to work successfully with multi-discipline teams.
  • Proven ability to work to UK, international, company and client standards


Desirable

  • Experience of project stages from concept through to detailed design.
  • Experience of working on site and commissioning.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status (IChemE).

team and independently with minimal guidance. They will be commercially aware, able to identify design issues and propose suitable solutions.

  • Understanding of the content requirements for technical process design documentation.
