We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Privacy Counsel to join our Legal and Privacy team. This role will focus on supporting privacy compliance in our marketing and e-commerce operations, including targeted online advertising, customer data use, data sharing and cookie/tracking technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of global privacy laws and digital marketing practices, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, ePrivacy Directive, and other emerging regulations.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Privacy Counsel to join our Legal and Privacy team. This role will focus on supporting privacy compliance in our marketing and e-commerce operations, including targeted online advertising, customer data use, data sharing and cookie/tracking technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of global privacy laws and digital marketing practices, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, ePrivacy Directive, and other emerging regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise internal teams—including marketing and e-commerce on privacy issues related to digital advertising, cross-device tracking, email marketing, retargeting, social media marketing, and cookie/tracker use.
- Review and negotiate privacy agreements with marketing platforms, cleanroom providers, analytics providers, and ad tech vendors.
- Draft and maintain privacy-related documentation, such as cookie banners, consent mechanisms, privacy notices, and opt-out tools.
- Ensure compliance with global privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, LGPD) as they relate to customer data, user profiling, and behavioral targeting.
- Support implementation of consent management platforms and tools for user privacy preferences across websites and mobile apps.
- Partner with geo legal teams and data governance teams to embed privacy by design into new marketing and e-commerce initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments and enforcement actions affecting digital marketing and e-commerce privacy practices.
- Provide privacy training and develop best practices for marketing and digital teams.
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree and active license to practice law in jurisdictions as required by applicable laws.
- 8+ years of legal experience, with significant focus on privacy/data protection—preferably in-house at a tech, retail, or adtech company, or at a law firm advising such clients.
- Deep knowledge of global privacy regulations and how they apply to digital marketing, online tracking, and e-commerce platforms.
- Experience working with ad tech ecosystems, including cookies, pixels, DMPs, CDPs, and real-time bidding.
- Familiarity with privacy tools and technologies, including CMPs, identity resolution solutions, and user preference frameworks.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal concepts to business stakeholders.
- CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM or similar privacy certifications preferred.
