Printed Circuit Board Design Engineer - Probe Card

We are building India’s first indigenous vertical probe card manufacturing company. Our mission is to reduce India’s heavy dependence on imported probe cards by offering high-performance vertical (buckling-beam) probe cards at lower cost with fast local repair and tuning support.

We are currently developing our first customer prototype , a vertical MEMS probe card and need a hands-on PCB Design Engineer to own the critical interface board / load board design.

About the Role

This is a full-time role focused on delivering the PCB design for our first prototype and helping build the foundation for future products. As one of the first technical hires, you will have the opportunity to define processes, establish design standards, and grow into a core team member as the company scales.

Freshers with strong fundamentals and good academic/projects are eligible to apply. Experienced candidates are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design high-density, high-reliability PCBs for vertical probe card applications (high pin count, controlled impedance, power distribution, thermal management).
• Create complete PCB layouts, stack-ups, schematics, and manufacturing files in Altium Designer.
• Ensure proper integration with the probe head (fiducials, mechanical alignment, planarity considerations) in close coordination with the mechanical design.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles suitable for assembly with precision probe components.
• Support design reviews, documentation, and handoff to our external manufacturing & testing partner.
• Contribute to building repeatable design standards for future probe card variants (power, SiC, GaN, analog, RF).

Requirements

• Strong fundamentals in PCB design (Altium Designer preferred).
• Good understanding of high-density interconnect (HDI), controlled impedance, power planes, and thermal considerations.
• Experience designing boards for test & measurement, ATE, or high-reliability electronics is highly desirable.
• Good knowledge of GD&T and design-for-assembly with mechanical components.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a lean early-stage startup environment.
• Willingness to collaborate closely with the founder and external vendors.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with probe cards, load boards, or semiconductor test hardware.
• Exposure to high-current / power electronics or RF/analog board design.
• Familiarity with semiconductor backend test processes.
