The role

We're looking for a Principal Engineer to own technical strategy and execution as we scale from early enterprise traction into our next stage of growth. You'll set architecture direction across a dual-database platform (PostgreSQL/Prisma for config and state, ClickHouse for high-volume trace/telemetry data), lead a growing engineering team spanning full-stack platform work and applied ML/guardrails, and be the technical face of the company with enterprise customers, security reviewers, and investors.

What you'll own

• Overall technical architecture and roadmap across our Next.js/tRPC platform, worker services (BullMQ/RabbitMQ), and our OpenTelemetry-based observability pipeline
• The integration layer unifying Shadow AI telemetry (network/agent/extension signals) with trace-level observability data into unified product use cases
• Our Guardrails engine — the ML systems (Llama-class detectors, GLiNER/spaCy, lightweight safety classifiers) that detect and act on policy violations in AI traffic, plus the inference infrastructure serving them at low latency and cost
• Hiring, mentoring, and scaling the engineering org — currently a founding lead engineer and a backend/applied ML engineer report into this role
• Security and compliance posture as a first-class engineering concern: SOC 2, enterprise DPAs, VAPT cycles, and customer InfoSec reviews
• Infrastructure and deployment strategy across AWS/Kubernetes, including dedicated single-tenant deployments for enterprise customers
• Representing engineering in customer, investor, and partner conversations

You should have

• 3+ years in engineering with meaningful time in technical leadership — Engineering at a high-growth startup
• Deep hands-on background in TypeScript/Node.js and full-stack architecture, plus real fluency in applied ML/production inference (transformer/SLM fine-tuning, eval design, serving economics)
• Strong data infrastructure instincts — relational plus columnar/analytics stores (ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, Druid, or similar) at scale
• Production AWS/Kubernetes experience and an IaC/GitOps mindset
• A track record of building and leading engineering teams from early-stage through enterprise scale
• Comfort operating in security- and compliance-sensitive environments (SOC 2, enterprise procurement, InfoSec review cycles)

Nice to have

• OpenTelemetry / observability pipeline experience at scale
• Security, DLP, or endpoint-visibility product background
• Prior founding or early-employee experience at a B2B SaaS startup
• Experience selling to or supporting large enterprise customers (BPO/IT services, financial services, or similar)
