Wipro is seeking an accomplished Lead Principal Scientist – AI Research to drive research and innovation in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Multimodal AI, NLP, and Agentic AI Systems. This role combines advanced AI research, large-scale model development, and product innovation to deliver next-generation AI solutions that create measurable business impact.

The ideal candidate will have a strong research track record, deep expertise in AI/ML algorithms, and hands-on experience building scalable, production-grade AI systems.

Research & Innovation

• Define and drive research in Generative AI, LLMs, Multimodal AI, NLP, and Agentic AI.
• Lead high-impact research, publications, and innovation initiatives.
• Translate emerging AI advances into scalable business solutions.

AI Platform Development

• Design and optimize AI models, algorithms, and enterprise-scale architectures.
• Lead large-scale model training, evaluation, deployment, and inference optimization.
• Build GenAI solutions including RAG, AI agents, and multimodal systems.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor scientists and engineers on AI research and best practices.
• Collaborate across product, engineering, and business teams to deliver AI innovation and business impact.

• 10–18 years of industry and/or research experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
• 7+ years of experience in NLP, Generative AI, LLMs, or related AI domains.
• Proven expertise in large-scale model training, optimization, evaluation, and deployment.
• Strong proficiency in Python and AI/ML frameworks including PyTorch TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, Keras, JAX
• Deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, Multimodal AI, Agentic AI Systems, NLP, Embedding Models, Vector Databases, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Experience with MLOps / LLMOps platforms such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, DVC, SageMaker, Vertex AI, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, AI infrastructure, data pipelines, and API development.

• Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computational Linguistics, Information Technology, or a related discipline from a top-tier institutes such as IIT, IISc, NIT, BITS, MIT, Stanford, CMU, ETH, NUS, NTU, or equivalent.

• Research publications in premier AI conferences and journals including NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, ACL, EMNLP, or CVPR.
• Demonstrated leadership in publishing research related to LLMs, Multimodal AI, Agentic AI, or Generative AI.
• AI patents (filed or granted).
• Contributions to open-source AI projects, AI frameworks, or industry innovation initiatives.
• Recognized thought leadership through publications, industry presentations, or research collaborations.
