EEPLUS has a specialized team comprising of market fundamentals, energy and power system experts that offer a one-stop shop for all engineering, permitting technical, financial and project management services related to early-stage development of renewable energy, large loads and/or transmission projects. EEHorizon is a cutting-edge GIS-based software system offering detailed insights into power infrastructure and grid dynamics across all US regions. It provides accurate information on substation locations, injection capacities, and grid interconnections, along with SSR risk assessments and the ability to upload custom layers. Users can access historical pricing data, operational and planned resource maps, land parcel information, and future transmission project details. It's a comprehensive tool to support informed decision-making in the energy sector. Position Title: Power Systems Studies and Quality Control Engineer Position Description: ? Perform power flow analysis, Available transfer Capacity (ATC) analysis, and contingency analysis in support of EEHorizon, using industry-standard software tools such as PSS/E, or PowerWorld. ? Periodically conduct system wide ATC studies across all US markets to analyze the performance of electrical networks under different operating conditions and validate the study results, in accordance with the grid capacity data refresh schedule of EEHorizon. ? Develop and condition models for power system components including generators, transformers, transmission lines, and distribution systems. ? Prepare comprehensive technical reports detailing study results, recommendations, and findings for EEHorizon clients and/or stakeholders. ? Stay current with industry trends, standards, and regulations related to power systems engineering and the energy sector overall including but not limited to Generation & Large Load Interconnection. ? Collaborate across teams to provide technical expertise and support for the design and implementation of projects. Develop and implement quality control procedures and testing protocols for EEHorizon to ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards. Design and execute product testing plans, including functional testing, performance testing, and reliability testing for EEHorizon, to validate product specifications and identify any issues or weaknesses. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues with EEHorizon features, implement corrective actions, and improve product designs and processes. ? Analyze test data and results to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in EEHorizon?s performance and reliability. ? Document and maintain detailed records of EEHorizon test procedures, test results, and findings for traceability and compliance purposes. ? Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analysis activities to identify potential quality issues with EEHorizon and mitigate risks throughout the product development lifecycle. ? Prepare and update detailed EEHorizon related documentation including but not limited to user manual and brochures. Minimum Candidate Requirements Education & Background ? Bachelor?s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related field with 2 years of relevant industrial experience or Master?s degree in Electrical Engineering, with Power Systems major. ? Strong understanding of and experience with power system modeling, load flow, and grid interconnection principles. Technical Expertise ? Hands-on experience with power system simulation tools such as PSS/E or PowerWorld. ? Proficiency in conducting: o Power flow analysis o Contingency analysis o Available Transfer Capacity (ATC) and system-wide network performance studies ? Familiarity with generator, transformer, transmission line, and distribution system modeling. ? Knowledge of NERC, ISO/RTO, and other industry standards relevant to transmission planning and grid operations. Software & Analytical Skills ? Proficiency in Python, VBA, or other scripting tools for model conditioning, data validation, and report automation. ?Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills with ability to interpret complex simulation data. Quality Control & Testing ? Experience designing and executing functional, performance, and reliability tests for software systems or simulation tools. ? Ability to develop and implement quality control procedures and maintain traceable test documentation. ? Strong problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and correct system or model quality issues. Collaboration & Communication ? Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams across engineering, software, and data domains. ? Excellent written and verbal communication for preparing technical reports, user manuals, and client deliverables. Preferred / Desirable ? Familiarity with GIS-based systems or grid visualization platforms. ? Knowledge of renewable integration, large load interconnection, and emerging grid technologies. ?
