Plant Head (Steel)

Role Overview:

The Plant Head will be responsible for overall plant operations, including production efficiency, manpower management, customer coordination for job work, and business development. The role requires strong leadership to ensure smooth plant functioning, cost control, quality output, and expansion planning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plant Operations Management

Oversee day-to-day operations of the steel fabrication / cutting plant

Ensure optimum utilization of machines, manpower, and resources

Maintain production schedules and ensure timely delivery

2. Production Efficiency & Cost Control

Monitor plant efficiency and implement improvements

Reduce wastage, downtime, and operational costs

Drive productivity and continuous improvement initiatives

3. Manpower & Shift Management

Manage labour workforce, supervisors, and plant staff

Plan and monitor shift operations

Ensure discipline, safety, and adherence to company policies

4. Machine & Maintenance Management

Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of plant machinery

Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities

Plan for capacity enhancement and new equipment if required

5. Customer & Job Work Management

Handle existing job work customers and maintain strong relationships

Coordinate with clients for orders, timelines, and quality requirements

Resolve customer issues and ensure satisfaction

6. Business Development

Identify and onboard new job work customers

Explore opportunities to increase plant revenue

Support pricing, negotiations, and commercial discussions

7. Liaisoning & Coordination

Liaise with internal teams (Sales, Dispatch, Accounts)

Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and external agencies

Handle local compliance and statutory requirements

8. Plant Setup & Expansion

Lead new plant setup or expansion projects

Plan layout, process flow, and infrastructure development

Ensure timely execution of expansion plans

Requirements

Key Requirements:

Experience: 10 –15 years in steel fabrication / cutting / manufacturing industry

Strong knowledge of plant operations, fabrication processes, and machinery

Proven experience in handling labour and plant administration

Exposure to business development & customer handling is a must
