Role Summary

As a Patent Research Associate, you will lead end-to-end analytical work—conducting infringement analyses, preparing claim charts, identifying potential infringers, and providing clear, defensible insights to clients. The role is full-time, on-site in Gurugram, with daily collaboration across legal, technical, and BD teams and periodic client interactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive prior art and product/use-case analyses for infringement, invalidity, FTO, and landscape projects.
  • Build claim charts/EoUs with precise element mapping, screenshots, citations, and links to authoritative sources.
  • Identify target products/companies and gather evidence (datasheets, manuals, SDK docs, patents, standards, teardowns, forums, reviews).
  • Synthesize findings into clear reports (Word/PowerPoint/Excel), highlighting strengths, risks, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with patent counsel on claim interpretation and project scoping; present findings to clients when required.
  • Maintain SOPs, search strategies, and audit trails for quality and reproducibility.
  • Support team members through review, feedback, and (as needed) task delegation.

Qualifications (Must-Have)

  • Hands-on experience in claim charting and infringer identification projects.
  • Strong analytical and research skills; ability to interpret claims, file histories, standards, and product literature.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; crisp, client-ready writing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (advanced degree a plus).
  • High attention to detail; ability to work independently under deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability or readiness to handle/mentor a small team.
