Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Packaging Development Engineer role based in Surat. The Packaging Development Engineer will design and develop paperboard foodservice packaging solutions that meet customer specifications, performance standards, and regulatory requirements. Daily responsibilities include translating customer needs into functional packaging designs, conducting material and performance evaluations, and collaborating with production, quality, and sales teams to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency. The role involves leading packaging R&D projects, running trials on new structures and coatings, analyzing test data, and optimizing designs for sustainability and export logistics. The engineer will also prepare technical documentation, support certification and compliance activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the packaging portfolio.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Packaging Engineering and Packaging Design, with the ability to develop practical, manufacturable solutions for foodservice applications.
• Demonstrated Analytical Skills and experience in Research and Development (R&D), including testing, data interpretation, and design optimization.
• Proven Project Management capabilities to plan, coordinate, and deliver packaging development projects on time and within specifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Technology, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of paperboard packaging, barrier coatings, food safety standards, and export packaging requirements is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with production, quality, supply chain, and sales teams, and to communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and readiness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with CAD or packaging design software and basic understanding of sustainability and compostable materials is a plus.
