Job Summary
We are looking for an OSS Application Engineer (L1) with experience in Telecom OSS Operations and Application Support. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience supporting OSS applications such as IBM Netcool (UFM Suite) and/or BMC Remedy in a telecom environment.
This role involves 24x7 operations support, incident management, troubleshooting, application monitoring, and coordination with L2/L3 support teams to ensure seamless OSS application availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L1 operational support for Telecom OSS applications.
- Monitor OSS applications and respond to incidents within defined SLAs.
- Support IBM UFM applications including Netcool, Omnibus, Impact, ITNM, Jazz, Log Analysis (LA), APM, etc.
- Manage incidents, service requests, and change requests using BMC Remedy or similar ITSM tools.
- Perform application health checks, routine maintenance, patching, and configuration activities.
- Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate with L2/L3 teams for resolution.
- Document incidents, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and operational procedures.
- Execute system testing, UAT support, and application deployment activities.
- Work in rotational shifts as part of a 24x7 operations team.
- Follow ITIL processes for Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
Required Skills
- 2–3 years of experience in Telecom OSS Operations or Application Support.
- Hands-on experience with one or more IBM UFM tools:
- IBM Netcool
- Omnibus
- Impact
- ITNM
- Jazz
- Log Analysis (LA)
- APM
- Experience with BMC Remedy (Incident/Change/Problem Management).
- Good understanding of Telecom OSS concepts and Network Operations.
- Basic Linux administration skills.
- Working knowledge of Oracle or SQL databases.
- Basic Shell or Perl scripting knowledge.
- Experience in application troubleshooting and production support.
- Exposure to ITIL processes and SLA-driven support.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Telecom domain experience.
- Knowledge of RAN, Transport, Microwave, Access Network, Core Network, or IP Network.
- Experience coordinating with L2/L3 support teams.
- Familiarity with SOP-driven operational environments.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
