Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional to manage the New Product Development (NPD) function at Caresmith.
This role will be responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of new product launches — from market research and supplier sourcing to sampling, production coordination, packaging, quality checks, and launch readiness.
The ideal candidate should have strong coordination skills, supplier management experience, commercial understanding, and the ability to work cross-functionally with sourcing, operations, design, logistics, finance, and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
New Product Development (NPD)
- Drive end-to-end execution of new product launches, product variations, and packaging upgrades.
- Identify market trends, customer needs, and competitor opportunities across Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, and D2C brands.
- Conduct competitor benchmarking and marketplace research regularly.
- Coordinate product sampling, testing, approvals, costing, and negotiations.
- Work closely with the design team for packaging and artwork coordination.
- Ensure timely execution from product sign-off to market launch.
- Maintain structured NPD trackers and participate in monthly review meetings.
- Take proactive ownership of product quality concerns by conducting detailed root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure effective resolution and prevent recurrence.
Product Research & Market Insights
- Conduct detailed product research across domestic and international markets to identify emerging trends, consumer needs, technology advancements, and category opportunities.
- Analyze customer reviews, feedback, and market gaps to identify opportunities for new product development and product improvements.
Product Benchmarking & Market Positioning
- Perform competitor benchmarking by evaluating product features, specifications, pricing, packaging, quality standards, certifications, and customer experience.
- Support product positioning strategies by identifying unique selling propositions (USPs), value propositions, and competitive advantages for new product launches.
Product Ideation & Conceptualization
- Generate and evaluate new product ideas based on consumer insights, market trends, competitive analysis, and business objectives.
- Prepare product concept briefs, feature requirement documents, and preliminary business cases for new product opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product concepts into commercially viable products.
Global Sourcing & Supplier Identification
- Identify and evaluate potential manufacturers, suppliers, and product opportunities through sourcing platforms such as Alibaba, Made-in-China, IndiaMART, Global Sources, and other B2B marketplaces.
- Conduct supplier screening, capability assessment, product comparison, and cost benchmarking to support new product development initiatives.
Desired Candidate Profile
- 3–6 years of experience in New Product Development (NPD), sourcing, procurement, product management, or product development.
- Experience in personal care appliances, consumer electronics, electrical appliances, wellness products, or consumer brands preferred.
- Strong understanding of product research, product benchmarking, market analysis, product lifecycle management, sourcing, costing, materials, manufacturing processes, and quality management.
- Hands-on experience in identifying products and suppliers through sourcing platforms such as Alibaba, Made-in-China, IndiaMART, Global Sources, and similar B2B marketplaces.
- Ability to evaluate supplier capabilities, benchmark products against competitors, and identify market opportunities for new product launches.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and product positioning.
- Experience working with China-based suppliers and OEM/ODM manufacturers will be an added advantage.
- Strong coordination, analytical, communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and capable of managing product data, costing sheets, and project trackers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high level of ownership and accountability.
- Strong understanding of product quality management, defect analysis, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Additional Preferred Requirement
- Exposure to categories such as grooming appliances, oral care devices, massage & recovery products, beauty devices, healthcare products, or small household appliances will be preferred.
Education - Diploma or Bachelors in Electrical/Electronics
