The Opportunity
Join our Global Technology Operations (GTO) team as an MQ Specialist, where you'll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining IBM MQ middleware solutions. You'll work in a modern CI/CD environment, ensuring reliable messaging, deployment automation, and operational excellence across our technology infrastructure.

The Opportunity
Join our Global Technology Operations (GTO) team as an MQ Specialist, where you'll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining IBM MQ middleware solutions. You'll work in a modern CI/CD environment, ensuring reliable messaging, deployment automation, and operational excellence across our technology infrastructure.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Design, install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ infrastructure across development, staging, and production environments
- Automate MQ provisioning, licensing, and maintenance using Puppet and Terraform
- Implement and manage MQ channels, queues, topics, lifecycles, and security protocols
- Integrate IBM MQ with CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless deployment processes
- Troubleshoot performance, reliability, and security issues to maintain optimal system performance
- Monitor MQ health and implement alerting, logging, and incident response processes
- Manage user permissions, auditing, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with developers to ensure reliable message-based integrations and resilient deployments

- 5-9 years of strong practical experience with IBM MQ (installation, configuration, tuning, queue management, JMS/MQI)
- Proficiency in DevOps tooling including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and configuration management
- Hands-on experience with Puppet for automation and configuration management
- Familiarity with Python integrations, particularly pymqi
- Experience in Linux system administration, specifically RHEL environments
- Ability to author and maintain clear runbooks, automation scripts, and monitoring dashboards
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced DevOps environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams
- IBM MQ Advanced or equivalent certification (preferred)
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift (preferred)
- Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP platforms (preferred)
- Scripting proficiency in Shell and Python (preferred)
