Microsoft Fabric Developer

About Position:

The Microsoft Fabric Developer role is responsible for leading the migration of Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines into Microsoft Fabric Data Factory. The individual will analyse existing integrations, redesign and develop native Fabric pipelines, validate orchestration workflows, and support end-to-end deployment using modern DevOps practices. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on faithful, low-risk migration of production data integration workloads.

What You'll Do:

• Export and parse ADF JSON/ARM templates to catalogue activities, datasets, linked services, triggers, parameters, and inter-pipeline dependencies.
• Build a complete migration inventory for current ADF orchestrations.
• Map ADF activities to Fabric Data Factory equivalents such as Copy, Stored Procedure, Lookup, ForEach, If Condition, and Execute Pipeline.
• Identify gaps and practical workarounds required during migration.
• Recreate orchestrations as native Fabric data pipelines, including copy activities, stored-procedure execution, and minimal in-flight transformation.
• Rebuild ADF linked services as Fabric connections across Azure SQL Managed Instance and Fabric Warehouse.
• Configure pipeline parameters and variables, enforce execution precedence, and set up triggers and schedules.
• Execute pipeline runs and validate individual activity outputs against expected results.
• Verify parameter passing, stored-procedure execution, error handling, retry logic, and overall run order using Fabric monitoring.
• Diagnose and fix defects, re-test, and deploy through CI/CD using Git integration and Fabric deployment pipelines.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Hands-on experience building and operating Azure Data Factory pipelines, including activities, datasets, linked services, triggers, and parameters.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, including data pipelines, connections, and monitoring.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance and Fabric Warehouse.
• Proficiency in reading and manipulating ARM/JSON pipeline definitions.
• Understanding of data warehouse load patterns and dependency sequencing, including dimension and fact load order.
• Experience with CI/CD for data platforms using Git integration, Azure DevOps (ADO), and Fabric deployment pipelines.
• Solid debugging, error-handling, and pipeline-monitoring skills.
• Prior experience with ADF-to-Fabric migration or comparable cloud data platform modernization is preferred.
• Familiarity with Fabric workspace governance and deployment-pipeline promotion across environments is preferred.
• Microsoft certifications such as Fabric Analytics Engineer or Azure Data Engineer will be an added advantage.
