Data Steward and Analyst JD Location: L&T Finance, Mahape, Navi Mumbai, India We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Data Steward and Analyst to drive metadata standardization and data ownership across enterprise systems. This role will be responsible for defining, maintaining, and enriching metadata assets including business glossaries, data dictionaries, and ownership hierarchies. The ideal candidate will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to enhance data discoverability, trust, and compliance. Hands-on experience to implement, configure and maintain this Data Steward with Data Governance tools is essential, with preference given to those familiar with Ab Initio (preferred), Informatica, Talend, Atlan, Databricks, or Snowflake. PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY Detail-oriented Data Steward / Analyst with 5+ years of experience in metadata governance, business glossary management, and data ownership frameworks in financial services. Adept at defining and maintaining enterprise metadata to support regulatory compliance, reporting accuracy, and data democratization. Proven ability to work across business and technology teams; familiarity with Ab Initio is an added advantage. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Define, maintain, and govern enterprise-wide Business Glossary and Metadata Hub, ensuring consistent and standardized definitions across domains. 2. Collaborate with Data Owners, SMEs, and Data Architects to assign data ownership, stewardship roles, and accountability for critical data assets. 3. Support ongoing metadata curation and enrichment efforts, ensuring metadata completeness, quality, and alignment with business objectives. 4. Establish workflows for metadata onboarding, change management, versioning, and lifecycle governance. 5. Work closely with Data Governance, Risk, Compliance, and IT teams to support data classification, policy enforcement, and regulatory alignment. 6. Assist in generating data lineage documentation and support catalogue integration efforts. 7. Provide periodic reports and metrics on metadata completeness, glossary usage, and stewardship activities. 8. Champion metadata awareness and drive data literacy initiatives across business units. 9. Guide adoption and optimization of data governance tools like Ab Initio (Preferred), Informatica, Atlan, or Snowflake. 10. Define roles and responsibilities for data stewards and custodians. 11. Train and evangelize data governance practices across departments. 12. Support audit and compliance reporting through accurate data lineage and usage logs. 13. Ensure business continuity with proper data backup, archival, and purging strategies. 14. Align governance goals with broader digital transformation and analytics strategies. TECHNICAL SKILLS ? Technical Skills: ? Strong understanding of Data Governance principles, metadata management, and data stewardship frameworks. ? Hands-on experience with Business Glossary, Metadata Hub, or any metadata management/collaboration tool (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation). ? Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. ? Working knowledge of data modelling, data lineage, and data quality concepts. ? Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working across business and technology teams. ? Understanding of Indian regulatory compliance standards (e.g., RBI guidelines, CKYC, Aadhaar, credit bureau data usage). ? Familiarity with data modelling, metadata management, and ETL/ELT pipelines. ? Proficient in querying and validating data using SQL or similar languages. ? Experience working in or with data warehouse environments like BigQuery, or GCP-based lakes. ? Shell Scripting, Python, JSON, Java 8 & above, Spring Boot, REST APIs, GCP, Debugging skills, Design. ? GEN AI, LLM, RAG, and Agentic RAG are not mandatory but, preferred. Collaboration & Communication: ? Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including business, compliance, risk, and engineering. ? Strong documentation and requirement gathering skills to align technical governance with business objectives. ? Skilled in stakeholder management and articulating data governance value to non-technical audiences. ? Experience driving adoption of governance practices across enterprise functions. Adaptable to change and comfortable working in a fast-paced NBFC environment. QUALIFICATIONS 1. BE/B. Tech and/or M. Tech in any discipline 2. 5+years of familiarity or working knowledge of Ab Initio Metadata Hub and Ab Initio Business Glossary is a strong plus (but not mandatory). 3. Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data stacks is an advantage. 4. Strong problem-solving skills. 5. Good collaboration skills. 6. Good communication skills.
