Role Description This is a remote, contract role for a Medical Officer–Specialist. The Medical Officer–Specialist will review and interpret medical records and clinical documentation to support legal case screening and evaluation. Responsibilities include assessing standards of care, identifying potential medical malpractice or negligence, and preparing clear, concise medical opinions and summaries for legal teams. The role involves collaborating with attorneys and other medical experts, participating in case discussions, and providing guidance on medical aspects of litigation. The specialist may also contribute to training materials, best practices, and quality assurance for medical case reviews.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Medicine, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex clinical information.
  • Demonstrated Patient Care experience, with an understanding of clinical workflows and standards of care.
  • Experience in Surgery or surgical case management, including familiarity with perioperative care and outcomes assessment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with Physicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Background in Training, mentoring, or developing clinical or medical documentation guidelines is an advantage.
  • Medical degree (MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent) and relevant specialty training; board certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience with medicolegal case review, utilization review, or clinical quality assurance is highly beneficial.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, objective medical reports for non-medical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
