Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

Aether Semiconductors looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and managing CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and Engineering Change Requests (ECR). The role requires strong proficiency in CAD software, an understanding of mechanical design principles, and experience in design documentation and revision control processes. Key Responsibilities: Develop 3D models and 2D drawings for mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar). Generate and maintain detailed engineering drawings with GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications. Create and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) , ensuring accuracy and consistency in parts lists. Process and implement Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Work closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability. Conduct design revisions and updates based on feedback from prototyping, testing, and production. Ensure compliance with industry standards, ASME, ISO, and company-specific guidelines . Support DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) activities to optimize designs for production efficiency. Maintain accurate design documentation and manage PDM/PLM systems for version control. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor?s degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, NX, or equivalent). Strong knowledge of mechanical design, GD&T, tolerancing, and drafting standards . Experience with BOM creation and management in ERP/PDM/PLM systems. Understanding of ECR/ECO processes and engineering documentation. Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, injection molding, etc.). Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles to ensure manufacturability. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, procurement, suppliers). Good communication skills and ability to document design changes clearly. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in semiconductor, automotive, aerospace, or industrial equipment industries. Hands-on experience with PDM/PLM tools (Windchill, Teamcenter, or equivalent).
