Job Description

Role Overview We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design & Automation Engineer with expertise in SolidWorks, tooling development, and automation systems. The role involves leading end-to-end design projects for molds, fixtures, and production equipment used in precision silicone component manufacturing. The ideal candidate will merge strong mechanical design fundamentals with practical shop-floor understanding to build reliable, scalable, and efficient solutions for molding, assembly, and quality functions. Primary Responsibilities Create detailed designs for molds, tools, jigs, fixtures, and automation assemblies using SolidWorks (3D/2D). Take ownership of engineering projects from concept, prototyping, validation to final deployment on the production floor. Develop automated and semi-automated systems integrating mechanical, pneumatic, and electromechanical elements. Work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to improve process efficiency, ergonomics, and throughput. Develop inspection/testing fixtures that support quality assurance processes. Contribute to NPI activities by proposing manufacturing concepts, tooling approaches, and feasibility assessments early in the design cycle. Prepare engineering documentation such as drawings, BOMs, validation reports in compliance with ISO 13485 & cGMP requirements. Coordinate with machine shops, vendors, and automation partners for prototype and final tool builds. Assist in RCA and CAPA for tooling or automation-related problems. Guide and support junior engineers/technicians on design methods and engineering standards. Required Experience & Qualifications Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Manufacturing Engineering (Bachelor?s or Master?s). Minimum 8+ years experience in mechanical design, automation, or tooling, ideally within medical devices, injection molding, or precision component industries. Advanced command of SolidWorks?modeling, assemblies, drawings, configurations. Strong understanding of DFM, DFA, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups. Practical experience in fixture & mold design, sensors, pneumatics, and robotic/automation integration. Basic knowledge of PLC/motion control systems is an advantage. Familiarity with ISO 13485, GMP environments, cleanroom considerations preferred. Strong technical communication and documentation capability.
